PR, the notations I see in your focus on whether or not the prongs would need to be rebuilt for safety reasons (to ensure the security of the diamond in the setting). That wasn''t necessary as the stone is secure in the existing prongs.
I need to take some more photos tonight. I''ll use my tripod this time so I can get better close ups of the leaning prong and the off center (from a true 90 angle). All of the photos I took are from an angle. I''m looking at it now (in the way a woman almost always looks at her ring - arm extended, fingers up, from a 90 degree angle) and it''s clearly not decently centered. I will try to get a photo that better shows what I mean. True that the casual observer probably wouldn''t notice it in passing but I think it can clearly be done better. Can''t make personal phone calls at work but I''m sure WF will work with me tonight when I get a chance to call.Date: 4/30/2009 2:48:48 PM

It looks pretty much like a decently centered diamond. The hole in the ring may not be perfectly circular, but it sure looks very nice. The ONLy way anyone would ever see any lack of centering is if the diamond was viewed from a perfect 90 degree perpendicular perspective. On any other angle, it always will look a bit off-set.

I am confused as to why a setting that is to big for the stone was used?
Was it a setting that you already owned?

Let me say, I love WF. I have my new upgrade and the stone is absolutely beautiful and was well priced. However, the center diamond was set off-center. It''s very obvious. It showed in the photos they sent me and I was hoping it was just the tilt of the ring in the photo. Unfortunately, it wasn''t. There is an airline between the stone and the halo, which I expected. However, 1/2 of the airline is thinner than the other side, by a noticeable difference. I think it will drive me nuts. I''m just surprised that with its wonderful reputation and products, WF would allow a ring to leave without seeing this. Is this an indication of lack of quality control? I know that others have had some other quality control issues lately.
I need to call my sales rep and find out what to do. I don''t want to pay the ridiculous shipping cost to send it back to be centered. I paid for the actual process of setting the diamond. I''m wondering how this will be handled...will keep you informed. Check out the photo. Wouldn''t that drive you nuts?!?!

ok, then it sounds like WF did what they could with what they had.
Sometimes you just cant make things not made for each other work right without a lot of added work.
There are some options as Dave and I posted.
I grabbed a shot of the setting from the Simon G website. It does show an airline but unfortunately the picture is taken from an angle that prohibits us from seeing the top portion of the airline. Nonetheless, here''s the image for those of you interested but who didn''t want to search.Date: 5/1/2009 2:01:38 PM

I believe the setting was actually designed to have an airline...search model CR123 on simongjewelry dot com website. I can''t post the photo here and haven''t figured out the linking thing yet.
I tried to call WF last night but I got their answering machine (didn''t leave a message). I will call this evening if I can. Had a crazy day at work and am having another crazy day. I''m sure WF will work it out. It is obvious IRL just not in the angled photos I took. And the prongs do have what I believe to be fixable problems. I really love the setting and the stone so I hope that WF and I can get them to work in harmony to make the piece as beautiful as it can be.
I appreciate that you had a good experience in the end Honey, but what we are trying to say is that there seem to have been a few QC issues lately. I wonder why these pieces of jewellery are leaving WF in less than perfect condition.Date: 5/1/2009 11:56:57 PM

I am going to chime in here to show support for WF, as a client who had a quality control issue recently. I was unhappy with my wband, albeit minor issues, but those issues certainly bugged me. I wanted my wedding band to be pefect, after all I plan to wear it everyday for the rest of my life.
WF bent over backwards to accommodate me! Without question they organised to have the ring returned (at their cost) from Australia(!!!!) and ordered a replacement band (custom mind you). They went over and above to keep me updated on their progress, and send me lots of extra pics to ensure that I was happy. They even held off shipping to give me time to really look at the pics.
I honeslty couldn''t fault them with their service and professionalism with this matter. I deliberaly refrained from posting about this, as I really hate ''vendor bashing threads'' and didnt'' want to make a moutain out of a molehill. When it comes down to it, mistakes do happen, and sometimes problems slip through the net. It''s how WF has handled these problems is what counts, and they should be applauded for it!
I am sure that before the recent staff changes occured, there was the occasional problem. It seems like since Lesley and Brian left, WF is under the microscope and some people are just pouncing on minor issues and making them bigger. I am not sure if this thread would have been started if these changes had not have happened.
Honey I mean no disrespect to you but would like to mention also as a customer of WF who had quality issues that there comes a point where it no longer matters if the vendor fixes their own problems, it matters that they cannot send high value/quality goods out as the customer ordered them.Date: 5/1/2009 11:56:57 PM

I think this is even more a requirement where the customer is overseas and any returns involve potential issues with customs not to mention extra shipping costs - for whosoever should bear that burden.
