Hello.

I am new to diamond buying and found these online.

It says it is gh and i1 but I don't know what that means. They also say carat but I googled and I think the mean together they are a carat but I am not sure. Help... Are these worth the price?

Thanks... I really want a pair to wear these at my wedding but don't want to spend $$$$ on crap.

Thank you for responding.... But you did not answer my question. The sale is only for 24 hours...I am have an extra coupon which makes them a little lower. They only have four left... Are they worth the money? I don't know if that means they are a good deal or not?

Thanks.

Hi soon2b and welcome!

G - H refers to the colour grade of these diamonds, I1 refers to the clarity grade, I clarity grades are considered to be 'imperfect' and can often show inclusions that are visible to the naked eye. The carat weight in this instance refers to the pair, so each diamond is approximately half a carat, or in the region of .50cts.

Worth the price? Not to me unfortunately, even with a coupon. The lab that is said to have graded these diamonds is not a well known one such as GIA or AGS that are known for reliable diamond grading, I am not familiar with the grading accuracy of IGL labs and I would advise you to stick with either AGS or GIA graded diamonds that are well cut or if you don't mind stones that don't have a lab report, enlist the help of an expert vendor you can trust. Some labs can grade far less strictly than GIA or AGS and the result can be a diamond that would actually grade much lower in reality if GIA or AGS were to inspect them, for example the G - H colour range could even be a few grades lower and the clarity very included, not what you want for attractive stones. AGS and GIA also assign one colour or clarity grade to each diamond, never split grades. It is possible you could spend the money and end up unhappy because the diamonds don't sparkle because they are in all probability not well cut and could be very included to such an extent that the inclusions make the stones look dull....

Concerning I1 clarity diamonds, if you find a well cut I1 stone you can sometimes find quite eye clean diamonds in this range, clever cutting can also help mask any visible inclusions. I would not rate the chances of finding eye clean or I clarity diamonds that don't have unwanted brilliance or transparency issues to be very high unfortunately with the above earrings.

I believe it would be far better to go smaller but much better cut so your earrings show up as sparkle. With the above diamonds, you could find they look tiny for the weight also because of bad cut quality and proportioning.

If you give us an idea of your budget, we would be pleased to try to find you some pretty earrings you can be proud of. Many congratulations on your forthcoming marriage too!

Thanks for your response... I had no idea diamond buying was so difficult. With my coupon... Total with tax would be 596.00 so around 300.00 less then the stated price. Would they be worth it for 600.00 or should I find somewhere else? Also, if even for 600.00 they are a bad investment where can I buy them for under $800.00. That's my max budget.... Thanks.

Do more research. Don't rush to buy "a deal". The diamond is not graded by a reliable lab and I1 is not what you would want likely.

Post your budget and let the experts hunt something down for you. It's what they do!

You are very welcome and yes, diamond buying can be more of a challenge that first anticipated but it's well worth the work to end up with sparkling stones! Even lower colour and clarity diamonds can be fantastic if well cut, the cut brings out the beauty of a diamond far more than the colour and clarity.

For me, I wouldn't pay $600 for these stones unfortunately, I would far rather get smaller diamonds that sparkle than larger potentially lifeless rocks that just sit there and can't summon up even a hint of sparkle, because that is what you could end up with. :(( Also, although you probably aren't thinking of buying these in terms of a ' financial investment', you could spend $600 on them today and try to resell them in days and might only get a very small percentage of what you paid back.

We can certainly go to work on your behalf to try to find some beautiful earrings you will love, that you can wear for your wedding and beyond, how does that sound? It's going to be difficult to find studs in your budget but we can certainly look, plus some of the others might know of some particular ones that fit the bill, are you open to different styles such a diamond hoops or other diamond designs?

I thought I would show you these just in case to start off with, then we can keep looking once some of the others log in.

I have been trying to access this page to see what's available for your budget in preset studs, but I am having problems with Brian Gavin's site, it's loading very slowly for me but maybe one of the others can take a look.

B2C offers preset earrings, the vendor is excellent and might be able to help you pick out a clean sparkly pair in I1 clarity if you ask.

Also a pair with a halo, that would really maximize the size on the ear.
