My mother bought it 40 years ago in Puerto Rico and just passed it down to me. I was wondering if it has any value. I have no idea about topaz. It is really a big honker!
Ditto and the value would be the gold it is in. Smokey quartz is worth very little, but it used to be called "topaz" for some reason. Even if it were topaz, which is highly doubtful, that color is not worth much unfortunately. Brown stones are typically worth the least in any gem species. It's still a very nice ring, and if you don't sell, then enjoy it.
