Thanks so much for everyone''s input on my previous posts - I''m a researcher by trade but missed alot and it was great to be helped along in a ''newbie friendly'' forum.

This diamond I have just purchased from overseas so I can have a look at it and return it if it''s not what it claims. I''m concerned that the low price means that there''s something wrong with it (probably have a bit goober inclusion right under the table) - what''s your opinion??

 Carat   0.57
 Colour   F
 Clarity   SI1
 Total Depth   59.30
 Pavilion Depth   43.50
 Table   59.00
 Dimensions   5.40 x 5.46*3.2
 Crown Angle   33.00
 Pavilion Angle   0.00
 Girdle   1.29
 Culet   PO
 Fluorescence   N
 Lustre   VG
 Polish   VG
 Symmetry  VG

It hasn''t been certified yet but will be before I look at it. It''s priced at US $1580 + the 10% GST we have here in Oz. I plugged it into the HCA and used the pavillion depth as the pavillion % - is that right? I know it''s not that accurate but just wanted to get an idea.

Do you have a pavilion angle?

No only the pavillion depth at the moment.

Assuming 'PO' for culet stands for 'pointed' the HCA sounds good... as you know. What does clarity and the IdealScope look like?

With pav depth and no angles, the size of the culet gets to determine pavilion angle. I would think a little culet can't change things all that much, but a large one would.

As far as I know...

There are a couple of haf carat F-SI1 H&A for about $1650 on the list above at the moment, AGS reports & all. If the non-certified F turns out G-ish, the price match would be even easier.

No clarity or idealscope piccies yet but I have an idealscope in hand ready to check it out

Getting nervous. The little rock was supposed to arrive today - maybe tomorrow?? I have since discovered that the pavillion angle is 41.1 which gives a HCA of 1.6 (very good light return and scintillation and excellent fire and spread) so I''m nervous thinking that I could have done better - would I notice much difference visually b/w this stone and others that have excellent light return and scintillation?

I guess what might concern me is the certification pending status, you really have no idea what the veracity of these claims about color, clarity and even cut measurements is. You know what I mean? And if it comes and it''s totally off (even certified stones with more liberal labs are off!) where does that put you?

Hope the best for your stone, hope all the characteristics match what they told you.

The stone has since been certified and the only thing mentioned to me that was different was the 41.1 pav angle which actually improved the stone. Apparently there are tiny white inclusions towards the edge of the table visible under 10x only and a few more around the edges. I can return it but I''m actually tired of looking and just want the ring on my finger

. I just really want to know if I could do alot better visually with light return or whether this would only be marginal - as you can tell patience is not one of my virtues

(I can post the idealscope image hopefully tomorrow)Next time I''ll have to ask not to be told when it''s going to arrive!!!

It sounds like a beautiful stone. I know what you''re feeling about just getting the search over with. That''s how I felt and the stone I wound up with (GIA graded) had very similar proportions to the stone you''re considering. My stone is absolutely beautiful and I''m very proud to have it on my finger.

Is there something better out there? Of course there is. There will ALWAYS be something better just around the corner. And that''s the bane of us on this forum. Many of us have become obsessed with ''everything'' diamond. But at some point, one has to ask this question........"How Good Is Good Enough?" If the stone meets your expectations, has a reputable grading report, falls within your budget, has the fire and scintillation you want, my advice is to not torture yourself and get that puppy on your finger and enjoy it.

Just my .02

Well after waiting sooooo patiently for my diamond to arrive

Oh and the idealscope image is a scanned image of an actual report photo that was folded so no funny comments about inclusions running all the way through the stone

CONGRATULATIONS!! The scope is great and you''ve got the stone in your hands and it''s obviously beautiful. You are required to post pictures of the stone and the stone in the setting once you''ve had that done.

Congrats again and best wishes!

Ring a Ring there is a huge inclusion running through the stone
