Hi Kim

Do you have a photograph and the actual ASET for this diamond please rather than a computer generated ASET please?

Hi Lorelei,

No, we''re from Australia and are trying to buy online, but are struggling as we only have very limited information available.

Are computer generated ASET images unreliable?

Not necessary unreliable but this ASET image has the hallmark of a ASET generated with average numbers from a scan of the stone instead of using the full scan numbers as it has perfect symm.

Hi Lorelei,

Are computer generated ASET images unreliable?
No, but they assume an even wireframe outline of the stone, this image can't take into account cutting variations, angle swings etc. An actual ASET is preferable because it is representative of the actual diamond.

Also, the Sarin only lists one pavilion angle and one crown angle. And it shows no information on where these angles intersect.

With all this information lacking, it is impossible to build the theoretical symmetrical wireframe of the diamond. Therefore, this ASET is built upon a truckload of assumptions.

Live long,

Your ASET image looks very much like the "Excellent" one on ideal-scope.com. The specs themselves don't look bad, either. Surely, this is a good candidate to take a look at. You should look at more than one so that you feel sure about your choice, but based on what screening tools there are, it is not one to be eliminated. The thickness of the girdle is making the length and width a bit smallish for the weight, but is not a killer for a good looking stone.

Ok, thanks for your help everybody, I will see if I can get the stone shipped in for a look.

On another note, I was wondering of there are any opinions on "ICE" branded diamonds. I have come across a few ICE VG''s and ICE EX''s in my online search, does this guarantee a good cut?

Also, if they only have a MGR* report so far, is this a concern? I have been told that to get a GIA cert, it can take up to 6 weeks, but seeing as I''m hoping to have the stone set by xmas, I''m in the bit of a rush, so will only have the MGR* report to go on.

Thanks again.
