Is this oval diamond worth it?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been browsing diamonds for a while and recently came across this cute oval.

It’s a 1ct oval in color D with VS1 clarity, and it’s very sparkly in person, but I’m seeing some dark area in the center. Not sure if it’s a bow tie or not. I uploaded a photo here, would definitely appreciate any advice you have on the quality of the diamond!

It is visible by eye. I saw it in person thanks. Does that mean it’s a bad diamond?

bad is relative, stones with large eye visible bow ties that are visible a lot of the time are considered less desirable.
One that has a partial one that isn't visible much of the time, less so.
In the end it comes down to what you think of it.

Thanks for the info! How common is it to find oval stones with zero bow tie? I tried looking at distinctive gems, which are known for ovals with zero bow tie, but they didn’t have any zero bow tie stones in my desired range.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, i talked with someone on the Distincive Gem’s site, assuming it’s Jonathan himself. But what I learnt is that they only have diaminds within the G-I range for 1-1.5ct. I know cutting is super important, just not sure if it’ll make up for the color as ovals tend to show more yellow than rounded diamonds.

They look very pretty indeed! Was seriously considering Brain Gavin for a while, until I found out that their L-W ratio is less than 1.3 so it’ll be more rounded than other ovals, haha. That’s the only reason that’s stopping me to get them.

They don't show inventory on their website but are very responsive to email and super nice

I personally wouldn't worry about G color, even in an oval. But of course thats up to you

That's basically how you get a well-cut oval...make it more round like a round brilliant!

You'll rarely find a well-cut oval that is long and thin.
