Is this legit?

Whenever I try to determine the validity of an email or company I tend to look at the grammar and sentence structure for clues that who the writer is might not be who they're saying they are. The following sentence is from the website and it leads me to believe that this company is not in the US.

"Cushion cut and Emerald cut diamonds are one of the highest selling diamonds in the jewelry domain. There are so many varieties jewelers can create with a beautiful gem like diamonds, out of which the cushion and emerald cut are the most appreciated in the market"

There is nothing wrong with selling diamonds from another country, I just wish they were transparent about it on the website. Two even bigger red flags for me are that there are no images of the diamonds and when I did a search for diamonds graded by GIA, only two came up. When I tried to look at the certificates I got an error message. Remember...Diamonds are expensive across the world. There are no great deals to be found. If something seems to good to be true it probably is.

Seems most of them appear to be CVD with PGT, which could be an indicator of low quality LGD that have been rejected by the big retailers. Just an assumption on my part, but I would tread carefully. Lots and lots of research and scrutinizing will be needed to ensure their diamonds don't have any transparency and light performance issues.

I went back to the website for a closer look and did find a NY address so I apologize for jumping to conclusions. Interestingly, the email address is labgrownhphtdiamonds.

I still have big concerns about buying a diamond based on a sample image.

Being "based" in NY doesn't necessarily mean anything...this could be the US base of operations for an overseas grower/supplier. There's lots of them that operate this way.

I'm with you - I would never buy a diamond on just a sample image and a grading report, especially with the increasing number of cheating rapid start-stop CVD growers cropping up all over the place, cranking out inferior LGD.

I'm inclined to think it's a drop-ship style vendor that is using a standard inventory of lab stones that is shared by many other vendors, including those on Rare Carat. The domain name and email address is a bit 'try hard' so they probably think they'll get a good amount of traffic from Google. If they are on Rare Carat, I'd be comfortable proceeding (the do a reasonable job at vetting vendors) but if not, I'd really, REALLY want the diamond in their inventory and at the price listed.
