I don''t think it''s right to dye animals different colors. Seems like the chemicals in the dye can be harful to them.

A woman recently got 6 months'' house arrest for piercing kittens'' ears.

OMG I can''t stop giggling!

I don''t think it''s animal cruelty necessarily. I mean maybe it''s emotional abuse because it''s such a blow to the dog''s dignity?

What I want to know is why in the world was the file name "cowdog" taken on Pricescope.

I would worry what the dye/paint is doing to the animal's skin.

If they'd put a panda suit on him, though, I'd be laughing!

ETA: our kitty - the one with the white underbelly - once fell asleep on top of a pair of jeans I had soaking in the bathtub. Still not sure why - they were wet, but... he got up and wandered out and I absolutely freaked when I saw him: his tummy was this lovely shade of light periwinkle. Took him to the emergency vet, they said to give him a bath and any remaining dye would come off on its own, and not to worry too much.

I think it's harmless fun. I think the dye they use is specially formatted for use on animals. I mean... nobody bats an eye at dog show coiffes so why is this any different? It's a dramatic change yes, but really no different than a poodle hair cut if you think about it. Now piercing a kitten's ears is cruel in my book. But I think a hair style and punching holes in an animal are on entirely different levels. I think the panda pup is super cute!

ETA... they did this on groomer has it and they're really careful about harming the animals. I remember one contestant got ripped a new one for brushing a dog the wrong way and causing some minor irritation.

When I told my DH about the kitten''s ears being pierced, he thought it was funny.

'cuz they're weirdos. lol

My cousins used to dye the beagle red and green at Christmas, and pastel for Easter. They used food coloring, it didn''t hurt her, LOL. I''d imagine they use something similar here.

And it''s hilarous.

OMG! lol

Like someone else said, I believe they have special pet dye that they use. Personally, I wouldn''t do it, but the people that I HAVE seen do it... are doing it for special reasons (halloween, pink for valentines day, RWB for the 4th..)

Hehe, Casper would be like no way hose!!!

I don''t know, I wouldn''t go so far as to say it''s animal cruelty, but... I just don''t think it''s funny, and wouldn''t do it.

i personally find it HILARIOUS. i have no issues. in fact, the dye is i''m sure safe for the dogs, and i bet after the pictures are taken, the dogs are groomed "normally". my grandfather had a white cat he used to dye for the holidays. he would have LOVED to see these pictures. i cannot wait to share them, thank you KENNY!

ha agree. I think they use food coloring dye? Some of them are pretty unique.

Animal "cruelty" how about putting them in clothes & strollers lol

Found this for Las Vegas not sure if it is still in place though

32.240 Dyeing or coloring baby animals.

It shall be a misdemeanor for any person to dye or color by any means any baby chick, rabbit, duckling or fowl, or to dye or color any animal for purposes of concealing its identity.

(Ord. 3618 § 143, 1991)

I don''t believe in dying pets either.

I think it''s kind of...silly...and just don''t find it funny at all...

But I don''t think it''s animal cruelty...although I hope nobody would do that to their animal w/o making sure dye is safe

That''s so weird. You can get arrested for piercing a cat''s ears but can legally pierce a baby''s ears.

The camel, buffalo, horse, and Panda are my favorites. I think it''s hilarious.

And I speak as someone who was TRAUMATIZED as a child upon seeing them dye Snoopy pink in that awful movie. My mom still likes to tell the story of how I wailed for HOURS after seeing that.

If this is real, I think that''s pretty sick.

Dying an animal''s fur doesn''t seem to be cruel to me, though. I think it''s far more cruel to adopt a dog and only walk him once in a while, as most of my neighbors do.

Having a backyard is not an excuse to neglect your dog''s needs.

Yea I''m not down with the tattooing of animals. Livestock or domestic...

I don''t have to worry about making my dog look like another animal. He already gets mistaken for a black bear.

As a dog groomer for many years... I did die animals and we did it with a mixture of vinegar and food coloring, it would do slowly away over time. I am on the fence about permanent dies, but to see the panda one... I think it is totally adorable lol.

I personally think its airbrushed with food coloring...

WOW--Leonardo is out of control!

the panda is adorable, and cowdog...well when the search function is up maybe we''ll have to try searching filenames

I understand that the coloring is safe, but my concern is holding them down to color a certain area. I mean I am sure these animals are not happy about someone holding them down to dye their butts colors. The area around the eyes also concerns me. I cant imagine that vinegar or whatever chemical they use in the dye made for animals feels good in the eyeball.

I didnt know that dying baby animals was illeagal. I have seen multi-color pastel chicks at Easter. It may be wrong, but I guess I have more compassion for a domestic pet than I do a chicken that may or may not be a sandwich one day.
