Im looking for a new diamond for my fiances ring since her diamond was lost and insurance reimbursed me a reasonable amount.
i found this online..my jeweler is about 500 dollars more for similar quality diamond.
princess cut
1.14 ct
e color
vs2
polish very good
symmetry very good
l/w ratio 1.05
5.98x5.72x4.12
no flourescance
girdle medium to slightly thick
gia cert shows a red feather it looks like and also says pinpoints not shown...are either of these anything to worry about?

Pictures would be great.
Yes, those red makings on a GIA report make it seem like there''s really something going on, when in fact, the imperfection might be innocuous.

In terms of GIA verbiage: Sometimes the things they write sound serious but aren''t.
This one is generally no problem because pinpoints are likely extremely small, in a VS2.

$500 is not all that big a difference on such a stone.
I would really think that if you are buying online, you should look for a larger price advantage.
If you feel comfortable posting the price, that might help.

stone on bluenile is 5,300, thats the vs2 1.14 with the red feather..jeweler showed me vs2 1.13ct f color polish excellent, symmetry very good, depth 67.9% table 74% the price on this is 5,750..only reason im leaning towards my jeweler is so i dont have to worry about him charging me to re-do the setting on her ring or give me a new appraisal for free....background--my fiances diamond was lost so the jeweler wants to re-do the whole box and prongs to make sure there is nothing wrong with it.....also on bluenile is a e color, vs1, 1.07 ct for 5200 but i was hoping to get something slightly bigger...out of these stones which would you guys prefer?

It is difficult to advise without images of the diamonds, Princess can't be properly evaluated for cut quality without detailed photographs and ASET images unfortunately, and BN do not offer such services to the best of my knowledge. You can either take a chance if you are really interested in either of these and see what you think when the diamond arrives ( BN have a 30 day return policy), or consider their AGS0 Princess which they have on occasion, these diamonds should be of good cut quality and may make it easier to find a well cut diamond without images if you prefer to buy from Blue Nile.

Sorry I can't be of any more help, but images are really needed and without them the extent of advice that can be given is limited regrettably.

how about the stone from the jeweler? we looked at it and it looks really nice (although im no diamond expert) only thing that im concerned about is the depth and table percentages...should the depth percentage be greater then the table percentage or is that not necessarily true? thanks for your input

Generally it is preferred for the depth % to be greater than the table, but if you see a diamond you love and that isn't the case, and you have compared it with others of known cut quality such as AGS0 Princess and it compares favourably, then that is the main thing. What I would suggest with the jewellers diamond, if you have the time, order an ASET scope and that way it will help you to evaluate the cut of the diamond yourself with a little reading up and practise. Here is the link you can use to purchase if you would like to do so, also you would have the scope for any future purchases!!

my biggest thing now is the 500 dollar price difference. if the jewelery store diamond was the same price as bluenile i would most likely go with it but since the blue nile stones seem to be slightly better quality, on paper and cheaper that makes me confused.
thanks for your input

Typically brick and mortar jewellers are more expensive than online vendors, so that could account for the price difference.

going just by the two blue nile diamonds and their gia certs. Which looks better? the 1.14 vs2 or the 1.07 vs1..do you think for a slight bigger stone its worth getting vs2 or is the vs1 and slightly smaller the safer bet?
thanks for all your input

You are most welcome! It is really hard to say without images as there is so much information I am missing in order to give my opinion on which diamond is best and I don''t want to steer you wrongly. They could both be uninteresting cuts, to bad cuts, to reasonable commercial quality to attractive diamonds - but I can''t begin to tell which category they fall into regrettably.
