What do you ladies think of this dress? It would look a little different. It would either be strapless or have straps that match the lace top. Some people love it, some have said it looks too sexy from the picture. I would love your opinions! My mom is the only one who saw it in person. She usually leans toward the conservative side and she thought it was fine. It would obviously be fitted to my body better (i.e. not hang so low, etc...)

Thanks so much!

i can''t tell but is the top sheer?

Where are you getting married at? If you are getting married in a church, they may have specific rules about what is allowed and what is not.

I think it''s pretty, it''s a little more showy than I would wear, but hey if you''re not getting married in an ultra-conservative church then I say go for it. Do you think you would regret wearing it? Would you mind your grandma seeing you in it? If not, then it''s a go.

THe stomach is sheer but not above the braline. It would be custom made so they could make none of it sheer if that would look better.

I love the detail on the top of the dress and how it matches the ball gown (love the fabric and color). However, I do think the sheer part on the stomach kind of detracts from the overall look of the dress. If it was possible to make it without the sheer fabric, I think that would be perfect.

Ditto if they can do it not sheer, that''s great!!

I think if it had a layer of ivory fabric underneath all of the prettiness, it''d be perfectly acceptable except to those UBER conservative religious factions that have to have arms covered and whatnot.

I personally think it''s gorgeous as is, but I''m like the opposite of conservative-at least with dressing up.

I think it''s a beautiful dress.

I think it would be lovely without the sheer. It looks like the dress is only half finished.
What does your FI think? My mom and I are perfectly happy with the idea of being nudists (ex-hippie), but my FI would freak out if my goodies were there for everyone to see.

I would like it if it weren''t sheer, so if you can get it not sheer, I say go for it! It seems a little too much like lingerie as is. It''s a very pretty dress, though!

I do not not love the sheerness and bra type straps for a wedding dress. It is gorgeous and looks like lingerie, but not sure it works as a wedding gown. I also agree it needs to not be sheer in the bodice area, and with no straps or lace ones that match the dress bodice.

When I was in another bridal shop, I saw a bride trying that dress on (she had purchased it and she was having it fitted). Honestly, while I thought it was so beautiful, the sheerness really did not look great in my opinion. It did not seem very classy, and I thought it cheapened the look of the dress (which I know must have been an expensive designer dress based on the store I was in!) It did not seem appropriate for a bride. I think if you wore it strapless and ordered it not to be sheer, it would be stunning!

BTW, who is the designer?

Good luck :)

i agree with the other posters, if it could be made not sheer then it would be great. also, since it is sitting kind of low in the chest area, i think a very thin sparkly spaghetti straps would look lovely and classy. you have a great figure and can definitely pull it off!

something like this..

Even champagne would look good. Not so skin colored, but still getting a similar effect. Something else to think about anyway.

Frankly yes I think it looks like lingerie. But it would be amazing lined to match the skirt... and with the strap suggestions ringster suggested, especially.

I agree with what most have already said. It looks like a gorgeous piece of lingerie worn with a wedding skirt. I would lose the bra straps for sure and go with a champagne lining so it still looks delicate but not mimicing skin color to appear sheer. I''m not ultra-conservative and I like sexy (with class), but seeing a brides'' bellybutton just seems wrong, lol.

I guess I like it as it, even with the sheer midsection. I do agree, though, that the dress may not be appropriate for more conservative wedding venues. I think it will look fabulous with or without straps.

i love it!!! it already fits you so well. =) i think if you put a lining behind the sheer, it''d look perfect. right now, it''s at the point where people would be guessing if it is or not.

my dress also has a low sweetheart neckline and lots of fabric on the bottom (silk taffeta at that!). but i don''t have the rack to hold it up! my grandma sewed 2 thin spaghetti straps on both sides, and added an extra hook/eye in the back. now it fits perfectly. =)

i love the detailing on your dress!

I agree with most of the others. I think that it''s a beautiful dress but I don''t like the sheer part-if you can get material to go under it, I think that it would make it look much better.

I love the dress. It reminds me of the Pnina Tornai dresses. I would get the straps to match the skirt, and I think it might pass. For me personally though, I would be a little uncomfortable and have it lined with material. As a compromise, maybe a sheer white, so you still get the same effect.

With the straps and lining matching the skirt, I think it would look fabulous!

Thanks for all the advice! VERY helpful! I like the lining ideas! IF I go with this dressI will definitely do that :-). Dress shopping is hard. I love them all :-). Good thing I have over a year and a half :-)

Oh, I can''t remember the designers name off hand. She has a shop in the brentwood section of Los Angeles. Lots of really beautiful stuff! She custom makes them all!

I think its hot.

Haha, I know how you feel about loving all of them! Take your time, and see what fits best with the kind of wedding you''re going to have.

Well, there''s the guy''s perspective...

I think that dress looks amazing. if you''re comfortable with it, go unlined, but it''s all your call. :) You LA ladies are so lucky, stuff like this is totally "no worries." It''s your day, have fun!!!

Ditto again, if they can cover all the sheer they way they cover it around the bust it will look fabulous!!!! It is a gorgeous dress!

I love it!!! It''s very sexy!!! I think if you love it, and it makes you feel great, then you should wear it! It''s your day!

i saw a bride with the sheer top...similar to yours and it just looked strange....almost as if she "forgot" to put a top on over the camisole or something.....imho it was very madonna-ish when she rolled around singing like a virgin in the 80''s.

I think it''s very pretty but I would prefer not to go sheer.
