I''m wondering if this diamond is worth the effort of being shipped to the vendor. It rates a 0.6 on the HCA, but according to the cheat sheets I''ve seen, the crown angle is off. Will this have a large impact on performance or appearance?

Cut grade: GIA Excellent
7.22x7.24x4.37
Depth % 60.4
Table % 56.0
Crown angle 33.0
Pavillion angle 41.0
Culet None
No girdle info.

Thanks.

Hi Housecat

The crown is fine, its a touch shallow compared to some crowns we see here but in the non PS world it isn''t shallow at all! This could be a perfectly suitable diamond, this is one where it mentions on the cheat sheet that proportions outside of these ranges can also produce a great stone and this is potentially one of them.

Some of my greatest diamond experiences happened with what some people would call slightly shallow crowns.
Shallow is relative, but GIA doesn''t think 33° is shallow.
You can find some GIA EX diamonds with MUCH shallower crowns.

I often saw the beauty of 40.8-41.0 pavilions with 32.0-33.5 crowns.
In another topic, I''ve asked David Atlas what he could say against a 33° crown.
His only answer was that a diamond with a 33° crown will be less durable than a diamond with a 34° crown.
I''m not an appraiser, but I think that a 33° crown is durable enough from my wearing experience.

Don''t be fooled by people who say that a higher crown will have more fire.
To really have more fire, the crown should be 39°-40°.

And my personal experience with standard round diamonds is that a too high crown makes the table look dark.
