Hey! Like the title says, I'm looking for feedback on this diamond as a solitaire in a white gold 2mm band. It's a round, 2.03ct, xxx, G, SI1, HCA=1.7. My main concern is the SI1 clarity. To me it looks eye clean, but it can be tough to tell. Thoughts? Anything about the specs that would make you concerned about visual performance?

Thanks!

The plot looks clean but the report states the SI1 grade is based on clouds not shown. You'll want to see an ASET or IS to tell if light performance is impacted.

Are you aware of the difference in look between a 60/60 diamond and a more traditionally cut MRB?

ASET / IS would not be negatively affected by clouds not shown. Avoid!

This is good observation skypie.
However, you won't be able to discern whether there is a transparency deficit from ASET or IS. It is often a very subtle effect that requires careful physical evaluation, best done by an independent gemologist not connected with the sale.

I'd Pass on this stone. I wouldn't get near a MRB with table > its depth. That just me.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! Lot's of good points here, and no I wasn't aware of the difference between a 60/60 and MRB until you brought that up and I just googled it! Is the general consensus to stay away from the 60/60?

Now I'm starting to question all the stones I've been looking at...ugg!

I was thinking this was a good choice, but the strong fluorescence worries me as I plan on proposing when on vacation at a location close to the equator when we'll be outside constantly...don't want her walking around with a blue ring :( https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD10184468

Any suggestions on a Blue Nile round cut diamond, 2ct, at ~$18,500 or less with emphasis on color and light performance? (Edit* I suppose I'm not locked into BN, there's a setting there that I know she likes/wants but it's pretty plain and simple and there's probably comparable ones available with other vendors)

I appreciate the help I'm so glad I posted on here...I was about to purchase that diamond 15 minutes ago

Thanks for the reply. Just read up on 60/60 vs MRB after your reply, thanks for pointing that out. Any suggestions on a diamond with similar specs? I'd like to stay at 2ct+ and am flexible on specs for an eye clean G-H maybe I diamond.

60/60 has a different look to other MRBs. Just depends on which you prefer. Most of us who have super ideals tend to prefer stones where table is less than depth (by say 5-6%).

WF has an 2.11ct I SI1 available for under $18k but going by the pic, you definitely need to check with them about eye clean. Light performance doesn’t appear to be affected going by the IS and ASET images however.

Otherwise there is a 1.945ct H SI1 available for $18.1k (wire price) which WF says is eye clean (though I do recognise it is just shy of your preferred 2+ ct size, but just throwing it out there for your consideration).

Which BN setting does she want? I'm mostly just curious :P2 but also we'll be able to recommend similar settings at other vendors so you can broaden your search.

Great Question! White gold low dome comfort fit 2mm. Thank you!!!

I'd want an expert opinion on this one with the SI clarity based on clouds, it's a risky one, so I'd keep looking.
