anyway, i belong to 3 different koi forums and there''re members that wouldn''t talk to each other because he/she post on thee other forums or you''re a friend of my enemy so i don''t talk to you kind of feeling. they say stuffs like...why don''t you go back to the other forum and drink kool aids.

yes its very common and if the moderators don''t keep it in check it often results in board wars which are 100x worse than what is happening there now.

I saw it happen in 1996, when I joined a Pet Loss forum. We had just lost our first Lhasa Apso. I only lasted on that forum a couple of weeks. The fighting was ridiculous. The told me not to talk to so and so, as she was an idiot.

Needless to say, I was outta there.

I am so amazed to hear this happens on othe forums. I rarely even go to other forums and, if I do, I am not on there long enough to see anyone''s fights. PS is the only forum I have enjoyed long enough to not only join and post, but to hang around for over a year. Guess I''m spoiled as I am used to so much respect and genuine support....and grateful for it, too!

That would drive me crazy. PS is it for me, thank goodness I got it right on the first try.

DF,
I am curious, how much fighting can occur about Koi?? I know they are super expensive and such.. Is it that, someone asks a question, you answer them, then someone gets mad at you for helping them, because they don't like them?? That is so lame,

That''s just terrible. And that seems like something that should be so non-controversial!!! Pet loss.....cmon, where is people''s compassion?

I was thinking the same thing what is there to fight about in regards to koi fish? Silly people. As for forums I visit with fighting that does escalate/travel babycenter bargain hunter board is the worst or best, depending on how you look at it-the bargain for me is the fighting.

I might enjoy lurking on The knot from what I have read about it on PS.

there was two girls that were very good friends until one of them had a fight with the owner of the site. she asked her friend to leave that forum but her friend refuse to and now they don''t talk to each other. then there''s this other forum, if a newbie post a pix of a low quality koi they don''t even reply to the new member. one member was so rude he replied saying....this forum is for high end hobbyist so please post your "MUTT" pix on another forum. mutt means low quality fish just like a mix blood dog.

People take color, confirmation? etc. seriously in fish too, eh? I have seen people throw their "friends" out of private groups & such. That is when a person needs to turn off the computer.

yep, confirmation is very important when you''re looking at a big fish.

This is incredible to me

Like Dianne said, I msut just be spoilt in my lil PS-bubble, lol. This is the only forum I have ever posted on or been a mbr of, and I don''t imagine that will change from the sounds of it..sheesh, whats wrong with some people??

I''ve seen quite a bit of fighting on the other forum I hang out on, which is car oriented. It''s well moderated, so threads that descend to name-calling etc. end up being locked by the moderators, and occasionally members are kicked off. That forum gives members the option of blocking certain posters so they don''t even see what they have to say... I have a few names on my block list.... mostly folks that seem to be persistently snide, or manage to find the salacious side of everything

. Most of the really nasty discussion are on threads related to performance modifications. I must admit that I figured the "spririted" nature of many of those discussions was fueled by testosterone, but from what brides here say about the knot forums, I guess not!

i heard the discussions can get pretty nasty over there too.

I''ve seen it on the Irish wedding forums-it''s crazy, they''re so awful to each other. I just love PS as there''s none of that.

There is a UK based wedding magazine forum which has no moderation after 5pm. Its like these people crawl from under their stones just after 5 and start arguing, being malicious and generally causing trouble. The weekends are the worst. I don''t go there anymore now.

The knot is horrible! I was only on there for a short time and was honestly scared to post anything! There was a girl on a pregnancy site that said anyone who gained more than 15lbs was being lazy and not taking good care of herself or her baby

really?!? Just another reminder NOT to take medical advice from anyone online

That''s because the knut is full of little kids, mentally. I can''t even tell you how many fights I saw, and I stopped going there when they started talking bad about ME. I took some homemade b-pics for my husband and put them on my profile so the girls I actually spoke to could see them, and a whole thing sprung up about me in another section. It was incredibly lame, the amount of girls on there that would actually remember everything you wrote so they could bring it up later to make you look stupid - which is why I never rant/vent on here. I got tired of being belittled for being human.
