Is this an OEC cut?

I just inherited this ring and would love to know what cut it is. It is set in platinum.

Doesn't look like a modern RB! It's got a little bit of a "checkerboard" appearance, which makes me think it has short lower girdle facets, and the culet is also typical for OECs. It's hard/impossible without a side view to say whether it's an OEC or a transitional, but actually I'm leaning toward transitional since the table isn't very small and the "checkerboard" suggests better symmetry than the typical OEC. Nonetheless, I'm no expert, so hopefully someone else will chime in & correct any misapprehensions I'm trying to spread!

From that picture it looks like a beautiful stone!! Got any more photos?

Thank you Retro! I measured it and it looks to be about 6.9 -7mm....in a transitional cut would that be about 1.2ct possibly?

I also have another little inherited sparkler....it looks like the same cut, bet it is a trany too!! It is in yellow gold.

I would say tranny as well due to low crown, beautiful stone! They are often my favorites!

Yup, I second AHL: both look to be lovely transitional stones (low crown, larger table, small culet), and they're my favorites, too! the more robust settings (I presume original?) are perfect, too, because all old stones are vulnerable to "flea bites", or chipping, at the girdle since many were cut with thin girdles, and years of love will do that! Wear them in good health!
