Is this AGS report wrong?

I recently purchased AGS Ideal 000 diamond from one of the on-line vendors. My AGS report says the girdle thickness is 1.1%-3.5%. I wanted to know what these numbers meant so I searched around PS and found this link.

If I am reading this correctly my diamond is extremely thin to medium.. That wouldn't qualify as a 000 Ideal. Right?

Is it still in James Allen's possession? Ask them about it. My gut is that AGS is not "wrong," there may have been changes to the grading system.

Oddly, my AGS 000 from WhiteFlash has the exact same girdle thickness range of 1.1% - 3.5% according to the Sarin report provided by WF and is listed on both the Sarin and AGS cert as "thin to medium" as well.

Nothing is wrong, although one could say that the PS-tutorial on the AGS-grade is a bit outdated. We have to forgive this forever, since AGS has regularly changed the format of their reports in recent years.

As far as 'proportion factors' go, I do not even know under which heading they are graded now. The chart in the PS-tutorial refers to a notation of the girdle at the facet-junctions.

However, for some time, AGS noted the percentages on their reports ranging from the smallest thickness in the 'valleys' up to the highest percentage at the facet-junctions. This is what you see on your report now, and the only figure you should use to compare to the chart is the highest number of 3.5%.

Looking at current AGS-reports, I see that the percentage-notation has been changed into a nominal notation, so no more percentages, but girdles 'Thin to Medium', for instance.

I know, this is confusing and not easy, but hey, if diamonds were easy, everyone would probably sell them =) .
