I'm looking at a stone with the below specs for $15k and wondering if it's a good deal. It seems I'd be paying for some overly-good specs that may not be necessary, so I only would consider it if it's a deal.

1.34 carat
D color
Flawless
Excellent cut, symmetry, polish.
Medium blue fluorescence

See dimensions in image above.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

From looking at BlueNile, which seems to have the most FL options in this size, if seems a good price. However, I will say that without an Idealscope or, better yet, ASET its impossible to say if the diamond will have great performance. Being GIAXXX is a wide category and GIA does not grade for performance. So, you may end up with a very white, very flawless diamond -- that is not as sparkly as others. So, ask the vendor to provide and IS or ASET.

But, if those specs are not that critical and you asked me to post the best performing diamond for $15k that are white and eye-clean, the below would get my vote. I stopped my search as G color, but H is often perfectly white for some. Depends on your color tolerance.

Once you set a FL stone, it won’t be FL for much longer and it will end up being an IF stone. The price you are being quoted looks to be relatively good (but that’s primarily due to the medium blue Fluor being a discounting factor).

As rocky has mentioned above, IS/ASET images will give you the best indication as to whether the stone is a good performer or not. Based off the specs above, it’s a good possibility that this could be a good performer. Only thing the IS/ASET will provide more clarity over us the crown angle as a 35 CA on a GIA report can mean anything between 34.75 degrees to 35.24 degrees. You would want the CA to be 35 degrees or under (preferably around 34.7-34.8 ).

The JA will be a good performer, well above most, but not in the same league as the others that are super ideals.
