is this a normal view?

i was curious if anyone knew what was causing the dark ring around the center. is this a normal view depending on the light, angle, viewing distance, etc? this is not a photo of my ring -- just of a friend of a friend, but i hope nobody recognizes it! -- so i don't have any information to provide. (i was just curious to get a feel for whether it is possible to visually rule out stones based on non-professional photos in regular indoor lighting that don't appear to have major defects to the lay person's eye.)

If you hold a black camera really really close to a diamond pictures can look like that.

Totally normal. On the basis of that, I would say you have 43.5% pavilion depth, which is v. good!
