Is this a natural opal?

Hello folks,

This is my first post here. I had recently splurged on a pendant and I would like to get as much input as possible on whether the opal (2x1.5x0.5 cm) is synthetic or real. It is supposedly vintage. Any insights would be highly valued! I will get it formally appraised next month, but until then, it would be great to get input.
Happy holidays!

Can you take a pic from the side? Sometimes opals are a doublet (slice with glass or quartz on top).

Thank you very much for the reply. I am more worried it is an imitation (Gibson or lab created). I took photos for the side and the bottom at an angle.

My gut says lab, especially with the color play from the side.
don’t trust me though - I wouldn’t!

it’s pretty!

Can be difficult to tell with good quality synthetic opals.
Im inclined to think it might be lab created, the side on view gives the impression of columns of color and the pattern is a little too regular and similar between front and rear.
Are the white stones diamonds? If diamonds, more likely natural than if white gems are CZ or white topaz, white sapphire or zircon.
you should try a UV light, natural opal will be fluorescent
