Is this a matter of re-dipping my e-ring?

I slipped on my wedding band just to see what it will look like and noticed a horrid color difference. I had just cleaned my engagement ring so it wasn't dirty. Will re-dipping the e-ring help with the color difference or am I going to have to live with it?

oh my, there is definitely a difference, isn't there? Are they both the same kt gold? Were they from the same manufacturer? Is the eRing considerably 'older' than the wRing? Is one plated and the other not plated? I'm just looking for possible ideas here...

My 18kt WG w Palladium alloy eRing turned gray after just over 1.5 months of wear. The jeweller is replating it for me. I know that the rhodium will wear off over time depending upon your body chemistry. Perhaps once you have the wRing for as long as the eRing, they will be the same colour??? For now, I'd take it in to see what the jeweller says. If this is going to be the way the rings will end up, I'd replate it just before the wedding band is slipped on for good - so they are both the same colour and will 'age' together.

Interested to hear what your jeweller says about the colour difference, so would love to hear any updates!

My jeweler recommended replating my ERing a few weeks befor the wedding so they would wear the same.

Yes, they are both 14kt white gold. We bought them as a set, but we aren't married yet so the wb has no wear. I can take it to the store and they will do whatever needs to be done for free. Is replating the same thing as redipping? I have no idea if the setting is plated.

Actually, I hope the store will still work on my ring. My fiance ended up buying my diamond from Wink Jones and my crappy setting is from Shane Co. Shane wouldnt even set the diamond unless we paid $300. Should be interesting to see what they say.

Umm if they offered a "protection plan" for the setting then it Gould be covered... Call them and ask.

Well, my fiance took the ring to another jeweler to set the diamond so I don't know if that null's the protection plan but I will find out!

yeah, I suspect that the rhodium plating has just worn off your ering and that it just needs to be redipped. Mine wore off within 4 months and I haven't replated mine yet but I'm not wearing a band with it yet either and I like the natural color and will try to find an alloy that will match it. I agree with the others and would just redip it when it's closer to your wedding date. Congrats btw!
