I am looking for a 1.7 carat Cushion, high color (D/E/F), VS2 with an excellent cut. I came across this stone on James Allen.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/E-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1532800.asp

I have been to multiple diamond district stores on a recent visit to New York and they were selling similarly sized/quality stones for about $3000 more. Is James Allen able to undercut the diamond district by so much? Any advice is much appreciated!

Thank you,
Diego

That one is really dark looking.

Thank you for the alternative stone you showed me. I agree it's beautiful. I want a 1.7 cushion, like square and rectangular but probably prefer slightly rectangular (1.05-1.15), prefer facet definition and in the colorless range as I tend to see the difference in color. I would be happy with VS2 or SI1, but haven't found any SI1 stones I liked in the colorless range on JA. My budget maxes out at 20K.

While I think the cut of the stone you showed me is beautiful, I would really prefer an E or F.

I hope the link works - but this stone is beyond breathtaking! I just started looking at them myself, and I'm officially obsessed!

I am not really loving those F VS2's at all.

This is an example of a nicely cut modern cushion. I honestly would call Jonathan at Good Old Gold and get him to call in a couple for you to look at if this one isn't the right shape.

And this antique cushion actually faces up larger than the one above even though it is lower in weight:
