Is this a good ring? Is it a good price at $2500?

Can't wait to see your purchase. If you love it, it's the perfect one.
So what do you guys think?? Did I do good? Is this a ring a girl would like? Or should I return (still possible) and look for a solitaire?

Swingirl, I'll be honest...I don't love it. Not after I see designs that I truely love so much more like these -

However, this was more a decision of the mind than the heart. And that's just fine. Sometimes, that's the way to go. Having said that, if I can still get one of the above designs in time, I'm game for searching more.

I sure hope I didn't come across as yelling. I just wanted to help the OP make the best decision considering the limited information that he had. Anyway, I can't wait to see what he chose.

No, no, I didn't mean it literally, Sam82! Sorry -- poor choice of words! I should have said "coaxing." Gentle coaxing!

And, Ellen, you would never yell, I know that

wow! good job royce! the ring you picked out is absolutely beautiful!!!! this classic 3 stone look is definitely timeless and elegant. i think it's much better than the pave split shank rings.

To me, a small solitaire is never as eye catching as a band of bling. It's all about finger coverage!

this is why a 3 stone or 5 stone ring is awesome :)

Royce, you don''t have to settle for something you don''t like!

The ring you chose is very pretty, but if you prefer settings with pave diamonds (the small diamonds that are set in the metal around the larger stone) then let us know.

There are very talented and creative people on this forum who can help you find something that looks very similar to those photos you posted, with a real diamond in the setting, within your budget and within your time line if you order from an online vendor.

Are you okay with ordering the diamond and setting online?

sarap, swl and sam, thank you for the kind words. All credit goes to you guys and this great forum, not me.

I have no issues buying anything online. That''s how I typically shop. But the concerns that I have are still the original concerns - exactly 10 days left and a teeny budget.

I feel that I got a good deal on the ring that I purchased (color: E-F, clarity: SI1-SI2 and .96 ct total weight) at <$1800 and like some of you have mentioned, it is a timeless, classic design. Those pave rings definitely have a wow factor to my eyes....however, I''m sure to get something like those rings would cost me $$$$$$...which I don''t have.

I think I''ll hold on to thing ring and continue looking. It is growing on me. Maybe by the end of next week, I''ll truely love it!

I think the ring you picked is gorgeous and very classic. I know you''ve said that you plan on upgrading when the time is right, and many posters mentioned that they''ve done the same and still kept their original e-ring. I think it would make a great RHR when the time comes to upgrade (not that you have to and I''m not saying it isn''t beautiful as an e-ring). Seriously, great job! It''s beautiful! Congrats!!

Hi Royce,

It is a lovely ring. Do you know the sizes of each of the individual stones? Do you know what the cut of the stones are? Does it say "ideal", "excellent" or "good" on any of the paperwork they gave you?

I don't mean to make you further question your decision, and I only mention this because you said you were going to continue looking and are not 100% happy with this ring, yet, but since you are still drawn to the split-shank with pave, I think it is worth a phone call to Whiteflash about this setting: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/-Allegro-in-D--Diamond-Engagement-Ring_1117.htm I am sure they can help you find a very nice well-cut stone within your budget, though the stone will be smaller than the total carat weight of your ring, it will probably be larger than the center stone of the 3 stone ring.

I hope I am not out of line in suggesting this, since you did already purchase a ring, but like I said, I would not have mentioned it if you didn't state you were open to still looking. I just think it would be worth a phone call to consider all of your options. I'm sure they've dealt with buyers under time constraints before.

The ring you chose is very lovely, and any girl would be happy to receive it!! I just want to make sure you are happy with it too!

Good luck and please keep us updated. We will want some hand-shots in a few weeks too!

You did get a good price, and the color and clarity look good, too. The design is classic and timeless, as others have mentioned. Plus, the three-stone solitaire design works with all sorts of wedding band styles, including a pave or eternity style band -- so you might be able to get some extra bling that way.

I hope it does grow on you, so you can spend your time thinking about the proposal instead of shopping

Whatever you decide, come back and post handshots of your future fiance wearing the ring!

Wow, that three stone ring is gorgeous!!! I really like that style much more than the pave split-shank rings you posted. The three stone is classic and the stones look beautiful - you got a great deal!

I think that if you still like the pave look, your girlfriend can wear a pave wedding band with the ring.

Truly, I would stick with that ring. I think it''s a gorgeous ring, and right in your budget. Please post handshots once you propose!

Congrats!

looks beautiful! and congrats, the three stone is still classic and versatile.

Loves vintage, vespergirl and others have knocked some sense into my head and convinced me to stick with the ring . I can always get a pave wedding in the future like someone suggested.

Like so many of you have said, it is a beautiful, classic design. So I''m going to stick with it. No more indecisiveness from me.

Here are some of the other details listed in the paperwork -

Shape: 3 round brilliant
Polish/Symmetry: Very good
Minimum Weight: .96 ct TW

what about cut?

It looks like you bought a nice ring, but if you really want a pave ring, I would return the ring and go for something else instead. Whiteflash is a very good vendor, and they most likely would be able to get you a ring completed by the end of next week. Something like this is very nice:

http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/The--Legato--Diamond-Engagement-Ring-with-Micro-Pave_1071.htm

with this center diamond keeps you in your $2500 budget.
