Is this a good ring!??? HELP!!

Okay I need some help with some particulars of a ring. I am new to all of this so I am exactly sure what is considered good or bad.

The setting was not listed in the GIA report but this is how it shows on the apprasial form...
platinum ring with 18 round brilliant diamonds, prong set, of .50CTTW

The ring was appraised at $11,950 & has a GIA certificate. I would be purchasing it from a private seller. She wanted $4,000 for it but I got her down to $2,000. What do you guys think?? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

You saw the ring for yourself, right? Does it sparkle to you and can you spot any inclusions with your naked eye? If your answer is yes and then a no to these two questions... BUY!!

Just make sure it is a real diamond and that it matches the GIA Cert.

Yes!! I LOVE the ring and the GIA certificate checks out. I checked it with the appraisal form and everything is spot on including the GIA number. Thanks for your response! Like I said, I am new to all of this and I was originally looking on EBay to find out that the company was a BIG FAT scam. Thank god I did my homework.

PS- for anyone considering an EBay purchase... do not use novo-diamonds!!

Does the GIA cert comes with an inclusions plot chart? If so, use a loupe to spot if the inclusions are where it says they are. That is a much more secure way to ensure the diamond is the one it says on the cert. Before that, make sure you double check the certificate number on GIA website to make sure the cert itself is not fake.

Okay, I double checked the certificate number on the GIA website and it all checks out. However, they don't provide a chart on the GIA website to spot the inclusions.

There is a pdf file on the right upper corner for you to download. If it does not have a plot chart, it means they did not pay to add one in the cert.

If that is the case, just look out for those inclusions... almost impossible to give you a fake diamond with inclusions built in, especially on a SI2.

It is a very good deal. If you like the ring, you should buy it. A platinum ring with side diamonds (without the main center diamond) would easily cost 2k.

Okay, there is definitely not a chart then. No PDF file available. Thank you for all of your help!! It is greatly appreciated. I may ask them to go to a jeweler with me just to verify that it is real and to be safe. But if all checks out, I will definitely be buying it. It seems like a deal I can not pass up.

I understand that... but if the ring checks out and if he is happy with the diamond's light performance, at 2k... it will be a no brainer in my view for a 1ct F-color platinum ring. No stats will compare to his actual eyes viewing the ring.

Even with a poorly cut diamond, it is not possible to get such a ring at under 5k in retail market. That is why I did not bother to ask about the HCA score. Even if HCA score is not ideal... its 2k. That price tag has to compensate for many potential weaknesses.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just giving information. To say a diamond "sparkles" is a good diamond is saying EVERY diamond is a good diamond. It's not a valid judgement of what is quality.

I'm actually trying to give an educated answer to this poster by asking if he has crown and pavilion information to provide, and know whether or not the cut quality is good. As true Pricescopers say, "Cut is King".

If he wanted to blindly buy something without knowing proper information, then stay in blissful ignorance, he obviously wouldn't have even sought advice from Rocky Talky.

So please, if you want to stop "arguing", be my guest.
