All,

Been searching for that perfect stone and I think I may have found it. I just wanted a few opinions to know if it is well worth the price.

Details:

Shape: Emerald
Carat Wt: 2.02
Color: F
Clarity: VVS2
EGL certified: http://www.eglusa.com/oresults/SearchPage3.php?st_num=90733807D
Length-to-width: 1.32
Polish AND Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: None

Asking price for the stone alone is $17K, plus tax.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Yes, I've examined it through the loop. It looks real good.

We don't really have enough info to tell you if it's a good stone with 'good light return' from just that scan - lower crown than I believe is the usual PS preference, for example, but 'good stone' is relative and fancy shapes are funny, unpredictable creatures. If you've seen it in-person and compared to other ECs and you like what you see then you are the best judge of what your eyes like.

Price-wise Excel has a 1.95 GIA F VVS2 for 19k http://www.exceldiamonds.com/Diamonds-1/GIA-Graded-Loose-Emerald-Cut-1-94-Carat-F-Color-VVS2-Clarity-84188.html
So IMO you're not getting a particularly fabulous deal or anything like that. A fair deal, perhaps, given that you're looking to buy locally and assuming EGL runs true to its reputation for inflating colour/clarity grading.

GOG has a GIA 1.7 F VS1 w/ lots more info for $14k http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7968/

I realized in the last couple of hours I have been doing additional research that I did not post enough information, as someone else has pointed out. Here goes...

Depth: 61.1%
table: 69%
crown: 8.1%
pavilion: 50.4%
girdle: thin polished
Culet: none

EGL Site responsible for the cert is CA, which I read is one of the more respected ones out of the other EGL facilities. Is this true?

I appreciate everyones comments thus far. All very helpful. A few more with these added facts would be great.
