It's a touch deep at 62.5. Can you link the certificate? Or list the crown/pav angles?

Thank you! I would pass on this one. The HCA (a good rejection tool using depth, table and angles) gives it a 5.5: "Good- Only if price is your main criterion."

Would you be willing to go to G, maybe H color? It'll still be plenty white. Here's a nice one:

I was hoping to keep my total budget in $3500 if possible after sales tax.

The band is $750 already... so I guess your last 2 links are okay for me...

Really quick, about the diamond + setting, I was mistaken--- it's $2189 with the platinum setting (the $1803 is with the white gold). Still in budget, hopefully!?

It is trusted, and they do ship to Canada. I don't know the details/procedure, but they'd be happy to explain it all.

Both diamonds look nice, but I like the amount of information on the Whiteflash diamond (ASET/IS images, a magnified photo, AND video) vs. the Blue Nile diamond. It's several hundred cheaper (due to clarity, I'd guess), but it looks like a very "clean" SI1.

If you go for it, the one thing I'd ask about the Ritani solitaire is that they set the diamond lower than shown in the photo- that's pretty high. The lower, the harder to bump it/snag it on things.

I liked the ring because it's thin...

Are there any thin ring band you recommend other than this one?

Hello from a fellow Canadian! :))

The stone that EB recommended from WF is stunning! I would prefer that over the Blue Nile one.

I would spend as much as you can on the diamond and get a plain white gold solitaire band. it's going to be gorgeous!

Thanks!!

I was gonna get platinum one, to be honest I do not have any expereince with platinum band... ive only seen 14k white gold...

I heard 18k is too soft haha... if platinum is $656 that's not bad at all actually...

I'm not so familar with 4C.. I thought color actually matters too.. but would it be okay to go down all the way to I grade?

At ~.50, I think "I" color is still going to appear very white, but it really all depends on the wearer.

The Ritani band looks like it's the thinnest under $1200 (and it comes in white gold or platinum).

ggman8988,

I am in the trade so I will not comment on specific diamonds that you have listed, but I can talk to you about color in general.

MOST people do not begin to detect warmth in a diamond (see color) until around K as a color grade. If you line up a D next to an F next to an I you will likely see the difference, but that is not how diamonds are presented on fingers.

It is similar (I am going to paraphrase a great example that a regular poster Gypsy uses) to seeing a white wall or white paint strip in the hardware store. If you go and buy "white" and then take it home to touch up the spots on your wall, you suddenly realize the 'white' you bought at the store is not the same 'white' your walls are painted. But by themselves they both simply look 'white'.... Yes, there are different hues of white - but when standing alone, you simply see the white. I always recommend pairing and H or I color with a great cut to customers. It allows a price break on the color which can then be applied to size and because a top-tier cut allows the light to get in and out quickly and with greater intensity, customers often feel the diamonds present closer to colorless than their grade.

Happy Hunting.

The .526 I, VS2 is definitely one to consider! But surprisingly, looking at the certificates, I think the SI1 (H color) has fewer/less obvious inclusions. They're both rated eye-clean though, so both should be fine!

SI1 is $100 cheaper... and i'm sure 0.526 and 0.513 carat difference is MINIMAL ...

Talk to a gemologist at WF, they won't steer you wrong - and put the diamonds on hold if you can, there are lots of lurkers here. ;))

i'm on live chat.. and this person thinks SI1 H color one might be better lol...

I dont understand this A CUT ABOVE this.. it sounds really catchy

UPdate:

She said "The crown angle on this one is 35.2. Our ACA category requires a crown angle of 35-35, so this one narrowly missed the mark."

I'd rule out the 0.513 as well... although certified eye clean, the inclusions still bug me.

For $65 more I'd go with the 0.526 as it's rated "A Cut Above" and it's a smidge bigger at 5.16x5.18x3.20.
