Is this a DUD for a STUD?

This ASET and hearts and arrows look wrong to me. Is there too much darkness in the center of the ASET? And the hearts imagery just looks all wrong with the cleft of the hearts being too deep. My mind is having a hard time resolving that the math all seems correct. It HCA 1.6 and is coming out as ideal on the AGSPGS/Sarin. It is a GIA XXX, with measurements 56-62-35-40.8
How is this possible? Am I right to pass on this and look for something better?

Its different.
It has really long lower girdle/lower halve facets.
85% maybe?
A few years back Jon had some cut like this, not sure if this is one of them or or not.
They have a different look than ideal cuts and h&a cuts with shorter lowers.
They are well cut and high performance but not traditional h&a because of the clefts in the hearts.

It would be about as different from your August Vintage with its broad facets, as RBC could get - and still merit Ideal status around here - at least historically 'Ideal' !

Hi Karl. The stone was called in with a few others of similar color/clarity, so not newly cut. It has a 2015 GIA cert, which doesn't bother me as I've been informed that they checked and there is no damage.

I am trying to find a match to go with an AGS ideal stone that has what I think is better imagery. It has HCA 1.2 and 57.2 - 60.5 - 34.1 - 40.9 I'll post the images to the other stone in a moment.

Ha, ha! Yes, aiming for sparkly, sparklers for my big ole ear lobes.

These are from the initial stone that I'm trying to match.

ok so its just similar to the ones he had cut.
imho its not a good match to the other one.
Its not as big a difference as mixing a oec and a mrb but its a visible difference.

Thanks Karl, I think this is what my mind was having a hard time grasping.
When you have 2 "ideal" cuts, they may still not be a good "match."

Hmmm, and now that I look at them both together - I just realized that the arrows are different widths. I think I like the fatter arrows better. Thank you all for this quick feedback and help!

I thought you only wanted one !

I would not consider these two a match. Not in the world of Ideal RBC, where everything matters ...

Ps. we were writing in the same time, saying the same thing.

... my other post above was about the OEC in your avatar: I was thinking that the new diamond would be fun to be of a different flavour

Hi Valeria, I guess my title wasn't a tip-off that I'm looking for studs (to treat myself for my birthday). Yippeee! Thank you for the help - talking it through (typing it through?) with others that are as nuts about diamonds as me really helped me hone in on what was bugging me about the imagery.

I'll keep you posted. I think its back to the drawing board looking for a match.

Jonathan keeps posting baout an in-comming wealth of August rounds. Perhaps worth waiting ?

AVR studs, hmmmmmm, very tempting. A little more on the budget than I want to spend now though.

Someday I do want another AV stone as a pendant. Sigh. PS is killing my wallet. :-)
