Hi! Love seeing you all discuss pretty things, bad for my wallet :$

This ring was sold to me as solid gold, and I noticed belatedly that the hallmark says 14k bond? Does this mean that this is gold filled/ bonded gold and not solid?
Thanks for your help!

Hello and welcome to the forum! Typically, gold bonded pieces are stamped .925 for sterling silver, as that tends to be the core metal (so that the entire piece is comprised of precious metals, instead of a gold-plated base metal such as brass). I've never seen it stamped with a 14k gold hallmark followed by the word "bond." But, of course, that must be what it is signifying here. Bonded gold is very different than gold plating, filling, or vermeil. It's a much thicker layer of gold (usually 1/4 of the piece's weight), and the gold is bonded to the silver at a molecular level, which means it will not wear away. That being said, if the piece was sold to you as being solid 14k gold, and you paid a corresponding price, you should return it and request a refund. Good luck!
