Is this worth $26k?

In a word, no. That's very high color and clarity to not score well on the HCA. 26K is a very nice budget -- so "the price isn't right." You should be able to find something that will have better performance.

This one is much nicer -- and UNDER budget!!
HCA 1.7, $24,430 (without PS discount)

a 2.6 HCA doesn't necessarily means its a bad stone, its just something that I would consider taking a look at more closely in person, however for that price tag I would be more incline to look at others first and possibly come back to it later if you can't find anything and if the "F" color is something you really really want. I have had diamonds score in the 2 range, and once in my hand, compared it to my ACA and other ideal cut diamonds, couldn't really detect any eye blinding difference however they were for my earrings so I wasn't picking it apart like I might if it was for a ring that I would stare at constantly.

Technically speaking that HCA score is penalizing mostly on the crown angle. but I've had diamonds with crown angle that range from a 32 -35 degree before and better to see for yourself in person sometimes and the performance for me was not a deal breaker because I really couldn't see glaring difference.

ETA: the diamond that msop... linked from JA is quite nice and a G color is still a very high colorless stone.

P.S. you won't be able to distinguish a G from an F, you may not be able to tell the HCA 2.6 from the 1.7... but if I were spending that kind of money, I would certainly want the best performance I could get!

FWIW, my stone is a GIA XXX, and it scored a 2.6 on the HCA as well, but I love it! I'm not saying the 2.6 won't be beautiful, I promise!! :)) :halo: However, if I had the chance to a different stone (within my budget), I would've definitely gotten the stone with premium light performance.

Edited for grammar. ;))

No too deep crown angle too steep plu ......

So, to me that diamond is worth nothing.
