yes, but it is not rare.
personally, I prefer black spinel from AU.

I much prefer darker gray diamonds as they have that mysterious colorless look but still sparkle.

Yes, but most are irradiated to achieve an even black color.

They are not that expensive, but I really love this ring with a famous black diamond. They are very hard obviously, so they're more about luster than anything else.

Black diamonds with good cut and no pitting are favoured but most on the market have a ton of pitting.
