The question is all in the topic title. Is there such a thing as half moons where the straight side is slightly curved? I'm wondering about half moons to go either side of a round brilliant.

Anyone seen such a unicorn? Is this something I can have cut?

Interesting look. Half moons or crescents with a round will look oval-ish, sounds interesting and different.

@mrs-b that would be a very interesting look! The look reminds me of that of two rounds when the side stones are really tucked under the main stone.
I searched the web, found these examples:

Not sure how the concave edge is useful ...

Step cut half moons are worth fighting for ! (some of them)

If you are going to place them beside the center, like any of the settings posted by @SimoneDi, you don't need the crescent shape. Typically, side stones are tucked a bit under the girdle, like this ring by TGP so you don't see the inner arc/straight edge.

If you wanted to butt them together, then you'd need to make sure that inside curve of the crescent exactly matched the round (which they seem more oval). By that, I mean if you want them set like these by TGP where the girdles touch with no metal or height differences -- then the arc of the inner edge must match the abutting stone perfectly.

Like @Bonfire said, the crescents will create a ovalish or 4-leaf clover look that is pretty cool like @Kaleigh or @canuk-gal's rings.

{forgive me if this is all obvious to you!)
