Is there only one Tiffany classic 6 prong setting and where?

Hi,

I am completely sure that what the gf wants is a Tiffany classic 6 prong round solitaire setting for her engagement ring.
There's no other choice.

But, she is fine with an exact replica, emphasis on exact--shape, materials, quality, etc. I understand that Tiffany does not have a patent on this design, so perfect replicas do exist?

In my research, I am unsure if there are two classic Tiffany settings--one with and one without the knife edge. Is this true?

More importantly, who makes a perfect replica of the Tiffany classic 6 prong setting as of April 2012? Is there a consensus among the moderators or this community at large?

I've been told everything from Brian Gavin Diamonds, James Allen, Whiteflash, Supercert, Vatche U113, to several others. I would just love to be told which replica is the most indistinguishable from the "real" thing down to the smallest detail, and be done with it and move on to the diamond phase.

Pretty sure it's the Vatche U113 that has fooled Tiffany's staff and they thought it *was* a Tiffany piece.

Well...there is only one Tiffany 6 prong setting...the actual Tiffany. That being said-the Vatche setting is an excellent replica and a beautiful setting. There are many pictures of it on PS if you search. I think the Tiffany setting has the knife edge, although some vendors make a Tiffany style setting without the knife edge.

OK, thank you. So I must have gotten confused because some vendors say they have a Tiffany without knife edge, and a Tiffany with a knife edge. I assumed that they were implying that Tiffany themselves made two types, and I had to pick which style that I wanted to emulate. But a 'true' Tiffany always has the knife edge (at least in the 6 prong solitaire classic).

Yes, the real Tiffany has a knife edge band. There are many replicas, but I feel the current best one is the Vatche U-113. I happen to have it and I really love it!
