Heating is occasionally used - excellent stability
Irradiation is commonly used - good stability
Oiling/Resin infusion is occasionally used - good to fair stability
Dying is occasionally used - fair to poor stability
A lot of Brazilian rubellite is either heated and/or irradiated.
Regarding Nigerian material, that of a burgundy color is generally heated, but the fine Nigerian rubellite in rich reds and fuscia pinks is completely untreated. Sadly, that deposit is completely depleted.
