DiaGem, please look at the green lines - that''s where we would see the back of the shank was it not for the padding of the box. Blue arrows are indicating where shank will not be visible. So there is a tilt in this particular direction at least. With perspective making a big difference in such closeups i would not make a conclusion about that prong.
But Kim, if it bothers you sure ask for an adjustment.
Youre making sense...,
But still, in this image something looks not right.
I agree with PS about the ring being on tilt but it does seem to be *level* and that would leave that rogue prong up from where it should be. You can''t judge all 4 against the shank, but I still think you can judge the 1 against the other 3.

So rather than one prong, could it be that the head is tilted? The jeweller would know anyway when they see the ring in person.

If this was my ring I"d be pissed. And it would bother me as well. And I''d ask for a new ring and to have it sent back to Scott Kay directly for setting. It irks me when people do such shoddy work and pass it off to us as if we wont notice it.

surfgirl, it''s not a huge deal to fix the prong, she certainly doesn''t need a whole new setting, that would be silly. The quality control can get by even the best of the best vendors, it just happens. the good ones will always fix the problem and I''m sure Scott Kay will do it without hassle.

Thank you for the comments, everyone. I will be sending it back to the vendor to get it fixed. Hopefully they will make it correct.

Regarding the tilt in the photo, I tried to take the photo with as little tilt as possible but obviously couldn''t get it perfect. That prong also looks off when I set the ring on a desk (with that side of the ring touching the desk)--that prong is then closer to the desk than the other.
