Is my stone bad?

Hello,
After 12 years of being together, one child and almost 9 years of marriage, I finally decided it was time for a nice engagement ring. I picked a stone (after weeks of searching) and a setting which truly fits my style. I have smaller hands (size 5 finger) so I didn't want anything huge. Anyway....long story even longer, after all was said and done and while I wait for it to arrive, I put the dimensions of the stone in a website calculator thing to see how big it would look on my finger and it said my stone was inadequate and a spread cut. Its GIA certified EX EX EX and from James Allen. Then I read it could never be EX for cut if it was a spread cut. I verified the GIA # on their website and it is the same stone. I did chose a J color and a strong blue flour on purpose since it may help it look a little whiter. I can always send it back if it's hazy or milky. My concern is only to end up with a decent size stone that sparkles. I'm not trying to win awards or anything, but I'd like something nice enough that I can pass it down to my future daughter-in-law, grandchild etc.

So now I'm looking for honest thoughts on what I picked based on what I am looking for. Below is the stone and setting.

Thank you all!!!!

Have you received the ring or is it still in production? Can you exchange the diamond? What was your budget for the stone only?

The angles on the diamond you chose are not within the range we normally recommend and don't fully compliment each other (although you could've done way worse honestly). It looks clear and it also doesn't have any clouds or twinning wisps that, coupled with the SBF, may make a stone look hazy/milky.

Hello, It's still in production. I swapped the stone out once already. The 1st one I picked was IGI certified and I wasn't comfortable with that. I'd like to stay around $5,500 for the stone. I can't buy that setting from JA without a JA stone, it says it's required.

Like ac117 said, that stone's angles are not within the most ideal ranges. However, it should still be beautiful in person. The stone should not have any significant light leakage (at least from what I see in the video). It has an amazing spread. What you will be potentially missing is fire and dispersion of light due to the low crown angle. To be dead honest, it is not bad. But it is not a stone I would buy at that price.

Here is a stone within your budget worth considering, if you choose to exchange the diamond.

I would not buy an IGI stone

That would not be a stone we'd recommend because you can get one that is better cut. So if you want to stop the setting of the stone, we can recommend better diamonds. The only thing is, a a better cut one could cost a little more. I'll look quick and see if I see anything.

The one Flying Pig linked is the best anywhere close to that size. You'd have to go down in size to stay in budget with a well cut stone otherwise.
