I just got engaged and LOVE my ring! Fiance picked out a 1.6, J, SI for me...it''s lovely!

My only concern with the stone is a small inclusion that seems to be very close to the surface near the girlde...when I run my finger along the edge I''m not sure if what I feel is a facet, a crack, or my imagination playing a trick.

I know that a diagnosis without the ring is impossible...the inclusion really is tiny. Is this something to be worried about?

It could be either a surface breaking feather or a natural which is nothing to worry about. I am in no way an expert but it might be best to get a pro to check it out to set your mind at rest - feathers aren't always a problem but lets see what the experts here advise. If it is a natural they are just tiny pieces of the diamonds original " skin" which cutters can leave on to up the carat weight, what is listed on your cert for inclusions? That would help. See if this inclusion or a feather or a natural is mentioned in the area you describe. I am sure it is fine though and congrats on your diamond.

I haven''t seen the certificate.....my fiance is going to have the ring insured on his policy so he kept it........

I''m sure it''s ok...just made me a little nervous when I found it!

Try not to worry and just get a pro to check it out to make you feel better! We all do this, once you have your diamond you scrutinize it with an eagle eye and can't rest if anything seems a little off! It is often the way that you notice these things as time goes on and it is easy to panic, but I am sure your diamond is fine! Sometimes feathers can be felt with a fingernail on the surface, facet lines can feel a little different and sharper than others and naturals frighten a lot of people so you are not alone. It could also be the edge of the girdle facet you are feeling especially if there is a natural there as this is where they tend to be located. Get it checked, insured, relax and enjoy your diamond! Great size by the way too!
