Is J color the new D?

I have noticed that most of the purchases here on PS are J colored diamonds. In fact, in almost every thread I have read, the person purchased a J color diamond.

Will J color diamonds now become so rare, since it seems that is what everyone wants especially in the larger sizes, that they will eventually become as sought after as a D color diamond?

No. Especially for every cut beyond Round Brilliants.

Nope.
Our main diamonds are E, F, F and H per GIA or AGS.

A couple days ago I just bought two GIA Ds.

I don''t think that J colored diamonds are most commonly bought by PSers, nor are they the new norm. I see pictures of F-G-H and I colored stones all the time. I have learned from PS that a well cut J (or K, L or M) can out perform a mediocre cut stone of a "higher" color and that there are diamond lovers who chose to get a well cut, "lower" color stone, in order to reduce the price, or increase carat weight. There are also posters who simply prefer a whiter stone, while others prefer a warmer stone. It''s a matter of education, personal preference and balancing individual priorities. I frequently find myself admiring and ogling stones of widely varying colors, clarity, and size.

Maybe it''s the result of the resession and many people wanting to either save money or get a bit more for their buck?

I''m guilty of being one of those PSers with an Ideal cut J coloured daimond and for me it was about going as big as possible because it''s unlikly I will be upgrading this pendant.

I bought an F color upgrade diamond, and traded in the G color. So, no, I went to a higher color. I like the whiter colors for larger RBs. The larger mass of the stone, unfortunately, forces me to go up in color along with size.

I plan on doing this as well. I have an H but will most likely upgrade size and color. H is fine for the size I currently have but I can start to see a little tint in H''s that are much larger, unfortunately.

ditto! I just bought my first diamonds (studs) and they''re J coloured. I would be unlikely to go higher than an I or J for the pendant which will be my next purchase
