Hi All:

OK - here's the clarification:

For the first quote, here's the breakdown:

Signed Pieces:
'In the engagement ring mounting, there will be approximately 24 diamonds,
weighing 0.55ct tw. In platinum, this will be $1,250.00.
For the matching eternity band, the ring will have approximately 26
diamonds, weighing 0.60ct tw. In platinum this will be $1,165.00.'

If you do the math, SP is quoting here for .02's (1.7mm)

Whiteflash
'All platinum Ring - $1950.00 This includes approx 19 x 0.03ct ACA diamonds ¾ eternity (.57 ctw)
All platinum band - $1850.00 This includes approx 20 x 0.03ct ACA diamonds ¾ eternity' (.60 ctw)

Whiteflash is quoting here for .03's (2mm)

Here is the second quote from Whiteflash:

Ring - $1400 w/ 20 x 1.7 mm ACA diamonds.
Band - $1355 w/ 22 x 1.7 mm ACA diamonds
3/4 eternity - 2 mm width.

1.7mm diamonds are .02's and the total width of the finished band will be 2mm.

Hope that explains the more competitive price quote. There was no price drop on the original quote for the .03's.

Unless I'm missing something, it appears the SP stones are closer to .023 each......

Doing the math, the SP rings are .55 and .60 ctw.......the WF rings didn't quote carat weight, but since it's saying 2-pointers, that comes out to .40 and .44 ctw each......

Unless the ring size has changed, why would the WF pieces require less stones when the stones are smaller than the SP stones to begin with?

The pricing of the pieces is indeed now closer, but you're still paying a premium for the ACA melee. You'd be paying $350 more and getting 1/3 less ctw as well.

Hmmm, I do see what you are saying aljdewey!

Good catch, Alj. That''s curious to be sure.

Is it becuase the second WF ring is only 3/4?

Nope, both are 3/4 eternity.

Are they using the same definition of 3/4 eternity? Otherwise I am lost.

The Wf rings cost more. When I priced out my full eternity band there was about a $600 price difference b/t WF and SignedPieces. Signed Pieces has since raised their prices a bit but it appears you can still get more bang for your $$ shopping over there. It ultimately becomes the decision of the buyer whether or not the addional cost is worth if for the aca''s.

Did you make any decisions on what to buy? No pressure, hehe

After some thought I told my boyfriend today that I wanted the SP band because I really like the style/workmanship (I spent hours yesterday looking at pics on this site), but he says he''s still going to shop around for prices and such. I can''t see anyone possibly being any cheaper than SP, can you? I think his main concern was trying to find a place to buy both the diamond and the setting so in case there were any problems with the ring there would be a clear chain-of-command.

"Thank you for your e-mail. This would be more for aesthetic purposes."
So it would not be structural problem to have a larger diamond with a thinner band. Yippe!

well at least you got a response to your email, Mata...i sent one 4 days ago and haven''t heard a word.

Make sure he''s getting identical quality for his cheaper price. No sense in paying a really low price for something that doesn''t sparkle like the SP or WF would.

Thats not good, I sent the email last night and got a response this morning. I wonder if it got there? I sent it to them through my email account and not their webpage though... I find the web page reponses take too long for me so I send them from my email since they recognize and respond. ASAP.

I also sent it via email.

Dem...yes something that caught my eye.

I was debating between WF and SP and like you found that SP''s prices are lower than WF. I doubt you''ll find a local shop with better prices. . .after hunting around locally, here, I found that both quality/cost couldn''t be matched.
