Is it true that stones of <.5 carats are rarely certified?

If so, how do you know whether you''re getting good ones? I''m thinking in particular about the kind of stones you might use as sides. Our jeweler is getting ready to start searching for 2 side pears this week and I''m concerned about what I should be looking for if there''s no certification available? thx

Yeah, it''s not usually cost effective for most dealers to pay for major lab reports on diamonds less than one half carat, especially fancy shapes used as side stones. Some dealers do, most do not.

Just look for a company which has a good rep, and you''ll usually get what you''re paying for. Verification by an independent appraiser will give you complete peace of mind.
