I''m posting before I do any research becasue I''m lazy this morning, but is it possible to get the age of your diamond through carbon dating or other methods?

It would be interesting to know everything about the diamond, including the age if it could be done without damaging it.

No. I would estimate the age of your diamond to approximately 20,000,000 years, give or take a few. Carbon dating wouldn''t help.

You can cut it in half and count the age rings.

Then you will have two diamonds.

Earth/solar system =4.5B+/-0.1B

Milky Way galaxy/known universe = 14-18B+/-2B

Amazing how time flies when you''re having a good time!

It would depend where it comes from. The age of deposits is known.

Here's one cute story about old diamonds and young diamonds
