Here''s the deal: we can afford to go bigger but I chose not to by staying just under a major carat weight price jump. Should I go bigger? How is it that I don''t have my ring yet and I''m already having DSS??? Maybe it''s just from looking at all your gorgeous big rocks.

I have a .94 and I''m thinking of going to 1.2 or 1.3? For the same color and clarity, it would be double the price! My practical side says that''s crazy but I have to admit, I would love to go a little bigger.

I was originally going to go with a Leon classic solitaire but I''m starting to think maybe some pave would help my little diamond out. I''m worried that a halo would be a little overwhelming.

If you like halos and it is done right, I think halos are at their best on small stones! They compliment it beautifully. My best friend has a gorgeous .74 ACA from Whiteflash in a gorgeous delicate Tacori recessed halo. It is BEAUTIFUL!

Try going down in color and up in size - have you seen the AMAZING J''s on this site??????

If it''s not a problem financially then go ahead and go for bigger stone. Otherwise, what you have is a great size.

I am hesitant to spend money on luxory items too, so here is how I look at it:

If you spent $5000 for your current ring and aren''t happy wth it, then that $5000 was wasted and you may feel annoyed every time you look at your ring, wishing it was something else. If you add some money and get something you really want, then the money will feel like it was well spent and it will feel like a great "deal", even though you spent more! So if you can afford it, then I think it is worth spending the money to get what you really really want.

You will see a HUUUGE difference between .90ct and 1.25ct. Add a subtle tacori halo like this: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-tacori.81834/ Well then you are really talking!!!

I definitely have this problem as well, and probably will continue because I''ve been in SAVE SAVE SAVE mode for so long. But if you can afford it, and still reach the rest of your goals (saving for retirement, house, no credit card balance) then go for it! I think going up to 1.3 would be a big blingy jump.

Yeah, financially we''re in good shape. We just bought our first house last year and are contributing a good amount to our 401ks. The only thing holding me back is knowing that I could spend the extra money on furnishing the guest bedroom or, better yet, on our future wedding. There are so many other things that are more tangible than .5mm of diamond. I''m so torn!

can you wear a sofa on your finger 24/7? nope!. does that desk or bed sparkle like a ball of fire? nope!
are there more important things than diamonds? nope!

I took the diplomatic route but with reservations. I don''t think it''s worth it for the size you want to upgrade to, but I believe a future upgrade might be appropriate, after all other incidentals are taken care of. Like 1.5+ or more?

If you''ve already got DSS, you might as well go for an upgrade now! You don''t want to be unhappy when you look down at your finger. DO IT!!!

i''m with lyra --- really, it''s up to you what you think you will be happy with... DSS is a very sneaky syndrome. I often have bouts, then it goes away for awhile... I say save for the 1.5+ if budget allows.

Ya gotta love Dancing Fire!

I''ll just add to that...a wedding is just a few hours of one day of your life. The ring can be worn every day forever!

What color and clarity is the stone now?

Ok, you''re way too funny. I see your point though!

If you can afford it and you want a larger diamond - I''d go for it.

Go for it!!!!!!

I say go for it.

And this is my favorite title for a poll ever.

I''m so with these two!!

Thank you everyone for voting! I''ll let you guys know what I decide. My major problem is that I already shipped my diamond to Leon last week so if I do the upgrade, I''ll have to figure out the logistics of it all.

I can''t believe I''ve come such a long way in just a few weeks! My original choice was a .81 Novo (until the Tiffany salesperson placed it next to a super firey round brilliant). Then I went to the LA jewelry district to try on rounds and thought the 1 carats were too big! Now look at me - I want bigger. I swear, this forum is dangerous!

1.2, 1.3 is a really nice size.
