Hi anton,

It looks very pale to me....The trouble with buying colour diamonds is it can be fraught with difficulties and great expense, even tiny natural pinks can be hugely expensive.

Who is selling the diamond and does it have a GIA Colour Diamond report, does it say if the stone has been treated in any way? How much are they asking for it?

It could be the pic but if you look at the top end of the diamond and to the upper left side, it looks crooked or if the diamond might be chipped...

The shape of that diamond worries me a lot more than the color...

HI:

If the owner cannot tell you that the CERTIFICATION states what the actual color of the stone is, then he is guessing to. I would never buy a colored diamond without knowing its full pedigree (or any diamond for that matter), and GIA certed stone provide those details. Don''t settle for estimates or guesses. Ditto to NF on the shape as well.......

cheers--Sharon

It could be a light pink champagne, I see a slight brownish cast, and a lot of unscrupulous sellers will tell you it''s a pink diamond. Pink champagne diamonds or warm diamonds sell for a fraction of the cost of a true GIA CERTED NATURAL FANCY pink diamond.

I have been studying the pic again and the diamond does look damaged to me, like the tip broke and there are some dings along the upper left side.

looks like a very very light pink diamond... 7P at most (1P being most intense-8P least intense). The shape is weird to me though, i would pass.

thank you for all replies.
I got another pic from the owner.I summaried his reply as below:
"This was the first picture i took but the stone had a piece of dirt on it, I have circled it.the stone does not have a broken corner. This stone has not been heat treated or enhanced in any way."

Is it real?

the dirt naturally occur? or anyother comments. Tks.

Additionally, the ".47ct Fancy pink" was based on a appraisal From Graduate Gemologist, but not a GIA certification.

I can''t help much, just thought that you might want to get the thread moved over to RockyTalky. A lot of the colored diamond experts post there and might be able to help you.

The owner said that just dirt on the diamond, and was wiped right off.

Hi Anton,
welcome to PS.
Just a word of advice, if you haven''t learned much about diamonds and
don''t know what you should be looking for, Ebay is not the best way to go.

As others have mentioned, a fancy diamond should really only be purchased
with an original GIA diamond colour report - a random appraisal is not sufficient in
this case.

Personally, I can clearly see the chip/damage others mentioned in the first pic.
The fact it''s not there in the second one make me suspicious.

I guess if it''s a good price and the seller has a solid return policy, you
could buy and inspect in person.
Seeing as you haven''t disclosed the sellers'' name (and we can''t check for you), please make sure you check ALL (positives and negs) their feedback on Toolhaus.org before you buy anything.

good luck!

Very sus to me!!!

ha ha, that''s what I should''ve just said Garry!

I think you have too little information on what may be an expensive stone:

- clarity rating
- a much better (exact) colour description
- cut grading (a dull pink diamond is not pretty)
- provenance (is it really a diamond?)

If you do get this stone, make it conditional on a grading report.

Hi

Me too, I think I feel a slight champagne tint to it.

Do not spend any significant money on a pink diamond WITHOUT A GIA CERT THAT INDICATES IT'S A NATURAL FANCY PINK. Certs from other gemological labs will not do, the GIA cert is like getting the official seal of approval on your colored diamond. Even the pnk tender, the top of the line pink diamonds that come from Argyle each year, all have their own GIA certs, as well as any fancy colored diamond offered for auction at a reputable auction house or a reputable colored diamond dealer. There are also many artificially colored pink diamonds, or synthetic pink diamonds, that look very natural in color, in particular the HPHT treated ones. They also can coat a diamond pink these days as well. There's a lot to be leary of when making a colored diamond purchase, so always insist on that GIA cert.
