I have seen many E and F colore stone from GIA and they are pretty much colorless when a vendor put in on a white paper. I have not seen a G before. Is G pretty close to F? Will you see a bit of yellow tint?
Run an 'advanced search' on 'G' colored stones. You will find many of the same posts, asking the same question.
G is variable, depending on your eyes..but many cannot see any color even on a white business card. I am one of those people. Hence my stone being a G. I think it's a great way to not pay for the colorless range label and still get a very white stone. Some people even think H will show no color to many eyes. When set you will see nothing...definitely. You don't walk around viewing diamonds set into white business cards do you?
The apparent face up color will depend to some extent on the shape, size and cut quality of the stone. In the pavilion up position, the way diamonds are graded for color, color differences will be more apparent.
D-F stones of about 1/2ct. and less will appear pretty colorless, whereas in larger and larger D-F stones one will begin see a difference in color.
A very well cut, especially round, stone viewed alone may look pretty white to your eye even in the G,H,I and even sometimes J color grades. It's not as likely to, however, when placed next a D-F - especially in the pavilion up position, or if you use the very white background of a business card.
A lot depends on your color acuity, and what your personal preferences are as to what a beautiful diamond should look like...don't get too hung up on the grades - this involves altering your body anatomy & physiology so that you disconnect your eyes from your brain and reconnect them to your heart
