Is a G color worth $10K + more than I color?

Which stone did you like the look of better? That should help you decide, since the money alone isn''t the clincher.

I really think it depends on the stone. I saw several H colored cushions that I saw a tint in. Eventually I got a E colored cushion with not a touch of color. Then again, I also saw Crookedrock''s AMAZING 4+ ct. J color stone and there is NO color to be found. So if it is stunning I, then there is no way that I''d pay and extra $10,000 for the G. But if the I does have some tint, then I''d consider it. However, I''d have to guess there are other stones out there that are G''s and NOT $10,000 more.

Have you asked the vendor to look for other stones that are closer to the I''s price range?
i totally agree. i think there are other stones out there that are not 13K more...

honestly, though, if these were the only two to choose from, i would go with the ''G''. this is because i''ve had a RB AGS graded I, and i could see the tint. if the money is not a big chunk of your savings, that''s what i would go for.

Thanks to all for your input. I think the G color may have been a bit on the long side so I am checking a few others an will also be looking at an H which may be a good compromise between whiteness and walet.

I would assume the difference betwen G and H isnt as big as G and I.

Thanks again!

I think beside the colour, you have two very different cushions here - in particular, very different l/w ratios. What is your preference? Do you want more of a square or a rectangular stone???

I think you have to see fancy shapes in person to decide. Since this is such a big decision, why not go see them? (If you are within reasonable (money and travel time) distance. And I would want MANY to choose between- not just 2.
Take your time. Enjoy looking. Since the vendors you are dealing with have all great looking stones, it may come down to you making the final decision with your eyes.

Colour is very personal, but for me, for a lifetime ring, yes I would choose the G, all things being equal.

I want the best colour for my price, and G is my sweetspot.

My sentiments exactly.

As the proud owner of and I and a J, I''d take the I in a heartbeat, with one exception: if the stone is a radiant, which would show color more than other cuts. I''d try not to go below H for a radiant, maybe even G. Truth be told, I''m not at all sure if this is the same for cushions, so your stone may or may not fall into my exception category. Your decision is complicated by the fact that these 2 stones seem pretty different, so in the end, go for the one you like better. But yes, all things being equal, I''d save the money. With respect to my I princess, it was a good $1000 more to get an H of the same size, which wouldn''t break the budget, but I figured it was better saved.

I like the F-H range in 3+ carat stones, but in a well-cut round you could swing an I and still look pretty white. If it is a fancy shape I''d stay H or above for sure.
