I know these images are very blurry. I have them in a PDF file, but I can''t figure out how to re-size it with Vista. It is a design idead I have for a solitaire. It is inspired by this Leon Mege http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=51&mode=search and the Mark Morrell flame. It would be a capuchonne style at Leon calls it so a wb could sit as flush as possible. I am not sure if its possible, so give me your feedback. Once I have my stone (1-1.25 carats), i will ask a few desingers including Leon and Mark. i really like how it looks like tulip petals as that is my favorite flower and I am of dutch ancestry. Anyway, what do you think?

1. It would be an open gallery and I am thinking of eitehr haveing the "petals" done in either plain platinum or micropave, what do you think?

2. I am not sure if 4 or 6 prongs would be best, but I would like claw prongs

3. I want a thin band...2-2.5mm...

Give me your feedback or ideas. Do you think Mark or Leon would be able to help modify this design to work?

it would look like a plain solitaire from the front

I know these aren''t petals, but your drawing made me think of the Vatche Swan setting....

Wow, that's lovely... I'd love to see that in a plain solitaire (no pave, but the same style). Wonder how many prongs it has, looks like maybe 8? Or maybe even 12???

Yep, that is the one that was my inspiration. I would prefer a plain band/shank and am not sure if i want the petals in plain platinum or in the micropave (as shown in the leon). I love the look of the traditional solitarie from the front, but then a really pretty, unique and feminine look form the profile. and the claw prongs will be a must!!!!

maisie-

that is very feminine! I like the six prongs on this one!

me too! I love that look. In all platinum, maybe no pave anywhere. It looks like it has 4 sets of double prongs. That ring says its 8 carats!!!! I wonder what the design would look like w/ 1-1.25 carats??? I am sure leon could work his magic?? I love it!

I don''t know why Leon couldn''t do it without the pave... IDK what size stone you''re looking at, but I would contact him to see what the minimum size stone he would need to pull off that flower look and ask about doing it without pave.

I''m going to 23rd Street Jewelers and I''ll keep my eye out for something... their stuff seems very feminine and floral. I prob''ly can''t take pics, but I''ll look for something similar.

Yep, it''s gorgeous alright! YUM!

I bet Leon would easily be able to give you a quote on it w/o the pave, or with modified pave.

Remember, though, if you get pave, you may not want to put it in the US, and that could make for a little bit of a problem if you feel like you aren''t able to get your center stone squeaky clean.

Personally, I think my vote would go for a plain solitaire... and then get some bling bling beautiful bling in your wedding band!

Please keep us posted! Whatta fun project!

Reminds me of the Tiffany lotus setting

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/tiffany-lotus-setting.62237/

wow! that is is stunning too! The link to the Tiffany Bluebool says its an 18 carat stone!! Can you imagine??

maybe a similar design is possible w/ a smaller stone

WOW! That's gorgeous too! I love the pave, myself, but it would be gorgeous in flowy, shiny plat. too!

I wish there were some images with smaller stones- I imagine the petals would look very different.

ETA: I really love the floral designs and the designs LM does with those tiny bezel diamonds, but I assume my stone isn't large enough to do something like that.

DUH! I didn't even see the link to the LM that you said inspired your design (!), I just saw your sketch and that's what you wanted and immediately thought of that LM... *jumps on the train headed back to Lameville

Lynn-

that is exactly what I am thinking! add bling w/ stackable bands and keep the solitaire simple!!

I guess that means my design really does look like the inspiration :)

have fun shopping today!

We ended up not going to 23rd St. today... I wanted to go back to a local shop first and hopefully decide on what type of setting I wanted (halo or sidestones, etc). They will be closed for 3 days, so I will try to get out there the end of the week or weekend.

Thanks Sera. Keep me posted if you find anymore pictures!

I think you''ll need to stick with plain platinum if you want to stay around $1500 or so for your setting. I really love a simple solitaire that shows off the stone and then have a diamond wedding band like the other girls have suggested. Of course, that is what I have, so I am a little biased! I''m just not sure you''ll get the full effect of a design like that unless you have a large stone like those pictures showed.

i think you are right and that is where I am leaning. I would like to have a unique setting if possible and and still looking for the "perfect profile", so that is why I think I may have to have someone design one with me :)

WOW!! That is such a gorgeous design. You seem so decisive!! Maybe I need to get to drawing already myself.

The Leon Mege setting is just wonderful. I have never seen anything like it before. Does anyone have any idea how much such a setting would cost? Is 1,500 in range (w/o pave)? I just assumed that because there are no prices on his site, that everything must be, well, extremely high priced. Is it because everything is custom? Is that why there are no prices on the site?

Loves Vintage-

I wish i was decisive. I started out about 3-4 months ago wanting a halo...This is so different!!!!!! I''ve been the opposite of decisive! I''ve spent a lot of time looking and researching! In fact, I just found this one that Irinia designed. I LOVE it! Does anyone know if its production anywhere?? I know vatche modified it and made "the swan", but what about this one?

As far as leon, his plain solitaires are about $1500. His work with pave bumps to $3K, $5K and up!

love this vatche.jpg

Ohhhh, I see. That''s funny. It''s good that you''re spending so much time making sure you get exactly what you want. I''ve been flip-flopping for a while now myself, but everytime I see a new post with a ring I love, like the one you posted, I lose track again and it''s very frustrating!! I am totally addicted to this site!!
