Good Afternoon, so per topic title is a .90ct Diamond visibly bigger than a 1ct Diamond? and If anyone has a real diamond image comparison between these 2 diamonds in the same picture that would be awesome. ^_^. Thank You All ^_^

What??? I think we need some more details...your question is not making complete sense. I assume you are talking about round brilliants? In a well cut
round brilliant a .9 would not be larger than a 1 carat. You could find a 60/60 .9 that scores well on HCA that could be larger than a poorly cut 1 carat.

.9 that is larger than 1 carat below stone (wouldnt want it)

Poorly cut 1 carat

So, No...a .9 does not look visible larger than a 1 carat in well cut stones.

Carat weight is a weight, not a size.
Yes, it’s possibly for a diamond weighing .90 carat to “look bigger” than a 1 carat diamond if it is a flat cut ie rose cut but the different in “size” would be hardly discernible.
.90 carat is less weight than 1 carat or 1.0 so you would normally expect it to look fractionally smaller.

@Johnykin, did you mean to ask info a 0.9ct diamond is noticeably SMALLER than a 1ct?

If you compare a photo/video of a poorly cut 1ct to a .90ct ideal cut, there will be no competition and the size difference will be an after thought.

First post three years after joining? That's got to be a record :D lol

We'll look forward to more! :)

An ideal 0.90 is 6.2mm and an ideal 1 carat is 6.5mm. A centimetre has 10 divisions on a ruler, divide one of these divisions in your mind into 10 bits and remove 8 of them, leaving 2 tenths of a bit, that is the difference. Tiny.

Here's a visual comparison of two well-proportioned diamonds. I think you can see the difference when side-by-side and IRL. The difference between 0.9 and 1.0 is is 0.2 mm in spread and .9 c. A spready and well-cut 60/60 stone may get up to 6.46 mm, but they tend trade some fire for white light return.

0.91 c (6.24 mm) on left, 1.0 c (6.42 mm) on right, size 6.5.

A well cut stone in general will have better edge to edge brightness thus making it appear slightly bigger so go for something that is a reasonably decent cut if you can rather than worrying about the difference between .90 and 1.00 which IMHO is more a size/mind thing anyway

What everyone has said. But unless you put one side to side, in real life, it would be difficult for anybody but the wearer would reliably tell the difference!

No.
