Hi- I am back to purchase my fiance's wedding band a few months before the wedding.

Based off the design of the Halo in the original ring, the wedding band has to be custom designed or else there will be far too much space between the original engagement ring and the new band when they are worn together.

See the CAD below which is from the designer and shows the picture of the engagement ring and then the wedding band they designed flush next to it.

They said there will be about 24 two point size diamonds which will be 0.5 cttw in diamonds, and there will be about 2.5g of 14k white gold or maybe slightly more depending on how is is cast and polished.

They quoted me $850 bucks, but I have no idea if this is a fair or good price or not... Seems kinda high to me? I am not sure if I should keep looking or not?

For all you experts and jewelers out there, what is the average jewlery district (not mall jewlery store price) for a simple and small wedding band piece like this?

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Thanks so much in advance, I don't know what I would do without this site!

For those materials plus custom work, yes, that sounds fair to me. And I am a huge cheapskate.

Seem very reasonable for me too. Don't forget it's custom...

HI:

"Custom" work will always be your most expensive option.

Thanks for your responses everyone...

So it has to be the labor and design costs and profit margin and stone setting costs, which I guess which run about $500 to make up the difference?

Because they told me that the diamonds (G color VS quality) cost about $250

And the gold cost about $85

I guess I am paying $500 extra dollars for "custom", because this same exact gold weight and diamond weight is $500 less below:

Since this ring currently for sale is made of pretty much the exact same gold and diamonds:

Thoughts? Does this seem about right for custom wedding bands that match the E-Ring ?

Basically. It's the labor cost that's going to make it the curved design you want, that will fit your e-ring precisely, as opposed to the ready-made straight band you posted (which is listed as "new without tags," which tends to mean "lightly used," which tends to mean it's being sold without the retail markup that's needed to cover overhead in B&M locations).
