The idealscope only shows the light return when seeing diamond from the top straight. The real location of the inclusion is on the GIA plot here:

If you notice, its somehow in the middle between the diamond center and the girdle. But because the pavilion has different shape (cone shape), the pavilion angle interacting with the light gives you different impression where exactly the inclusion is.

Ahh, thank you for explaining.

Are you able to speak directly to my question regarding the prongs and whether that will change the appearance of where the reflections are showing? Sorry, you basically have to spell things out for me

It is very possible that now the prong is exactly where the feather is. This could be determined if you look from the bottom of the diamond (from the inner side, where is the shank). Just put your ring up down. Use a loupe.
If the prong is where the feather is, the prong cannot really cover the feather. That is why you still see the feather, because from the top straight view you see feather's location closer to the girdle, so let say you see the reflection. May be you wish to cover the reflection? You can try, of course, to rotate the prongs. But because the feather is not so close to the girdle and the prong cannot cover it physically, it it is very possible that you will still be able to see this feather from different angles (not the straight view, but when diamond is slightly tilted). It's up to you. If you like the diamond performance, you can first try to rotate the prongs.

Thank you for clarifying. Yes, I do like the diamond in terms of its performance, cut and colour. My main concern is that reflection that I am seeing from the straight on view, as the actual inclusion and the other reflections that can be seen from different angles are not very noticeable. I looked at it in daylight all day today and did not see them until I scoured the stone this evening. I am going to take a closer look again tomorrow during daylight. Unfortunately, I do not have a loupe and the detailed gallery does not really allow me to see very much of the base of the diamond. I will take it to a jeweller after Christmas and take a look at it unset and then try to rotate to cover that pesky girdle reflection.

I also think that this feather is not very noticeable, because on the video you can barely see it.
You can decide what to do after Christmas.

Just wanted to chime in and say that if this is a "mind clean" thing, then it's going to bother you... but I'll be honest, I can't see that feather. I think you got an SI1 with a good spot for an inclusion.

Thanks for your chime in, it helps to reassure me :). It is absolutely NOT a mind clean thing for me, just a sight thing lol. My previous stone was an SI1 and since the inclusions were clear and minor, I just chose not to look for them.

Diamond bends light more than you can imagine. That is why you can only see the feather (which must be reaching the outside facets of the pavilion) from the crown, and best from an angle rather than face on.
If you place a prong there you will almost never be able to see the flaw because
1. the prong will stop you seeing it from the side angle view. And
2. there is usually a reflection of the prong that surrounds the prong area and that will stop or make it much harder to see from face on.
