is .41 ct 4.8x4.8mm too small for Pendant

I have a .25ct solitaire pendant my husband gave me for Xmas before we were married. It is small. A .41 should look bigger. But for me, for a pendant, IMHO I would give up a little more on color and clarity to get a bigger stone. It is not like a ring that you can see all the time or people will want to look at closely.

If you bezel set it, it will look larger. If you set it in a basket or prong setting, you can always add an enhancer for another special occasion.

Maybe go to one of the "maul" stores and look at pendants that are the same measurement as that stone to get an idea of the size and whether you think it will work for your wife. Some people like giant bling and others like smaller, more delicate bling.

That is a really good size for a pendant. You can also bezel it to add additional diameter to the stone! Mine is a .38 and it's perfect for me for daily wear. I do agree that you could be fine going down in color to get a slightly larger stone.

It's a beautiful size! But I agree - for a pendant I'd go with an H/I color and eye clean SI to get a little bump in size. But don't sacrifice cut quality of course.

I think .41 would be fine as a pendant also, especially if you bezel it like has been suggested. I would also suggest considering going down on color (and perhaps up a little on clarity?). Unless she is so color sensitive as to need an E in a round, I don't think you're going to be getting a lot of benefit from it being an E. If it's well cut, it's going to look white and sparkle as an H/I. The stone in my avatar picture is an H for example...try to ignore the holiday blinking! :)

I looked for something bigger at that price point in a lower color and didn't see much. Grab that one while you can! It's a beautiful SI2.

Another consideration would be this one:http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/J-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1541999.asp
is the quality that much different? and does it worth 1/3 more of the price?

Any good brezel pendant you can recommend?

14k white gold would be good enough I think , hopfully its not gonna cost me an arm and leg lol.

I had my diamond set locally into a bezel...the style is the Tiffany By the Yard with a single stone, which would be similiar to:

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamond-pendants/verismo-diamond-pendant-1399.htm

It's a great look. Thin bezel around the girdle of the diamond and is very classic! And, 14k is good!

I just wanted to add that my preference is for diamonds around G/H and I did have an E in a pendant and it was a gorgeous stone but it was SO white that I wonder if some people thought it was a CZ. It literally looked like ice. Very pretty, but ultra white. A slightly warmer stone may look more natural.

I didn't see any bezel pendants on the James Allen site...I may have missed the right page?

Also, are you 100% set on JA? Because both WF and BGD have pretty bezel pendants.

I'll just point out really quick that the angles in the first diamond have a 35 crown and 41 pavilion. Not sure if that's a problem in a pendant, but perhaps something to be aware of? Maybe one of the pro's will chime in...

On the J, I think the angles are better, and you gain a little bit of diameter so it's pretty close to a 1/2c. I'll have to let others respond on whether it's worth the extra cost:

Here's a couple of others in the same size you were looking at, but maybe a little bit better numbers.

What is your total budget? That can help out with picking the perfect setting/stone. If you can, you may want to go with a larger center stone with a simple bezel vs a smaller stone with a halo. If the center stone is too small in a halo, it may look more like a cluster than a halo'd center stone. (or that is JMO)... I'm not much of a halo fan, though, so I tend to look more at classic styles... it would depend upon your wife's preference. Is she more classic in style?

I would stay with a regular vendor who is known for high-quality stones!

Anyway, budget is a good place to start!

Ideally stay within 800-1k

I think it's a perfect size for a pendant!

There was a .57 on preloved for a while. Are we allowed to mention those in rocky talk, or is that a no-no? It was a k, however, and over budget, and no idea whether it is still available, but the pendant style is very nice!

I think I remember that. Was it Mara's? I think it was on LT also.

The WF stone you posted is really nice!

Mara's is a .75 and she might have sold it...

But, on a side note, she said that the K looked fabulous and very white. It is an ACA by WF.

I think 0.41ct is a great size! I even have a ~0.20ct 4-prong platinum Tiffany solitaire pendant. I like to layer it with my other necklaces or add a charm next to it to give it more oomph. I used to have a 0.5ct diamond that I wore all the time but I ended up setting it into a pair of earrings (which I later resold.) As some of the ladies mentioned, a bezel would make it look slightly larger, but the nice thing about a prong setting is that you can easily take it out and have it reset into something else later on down the line (maybe find a match and turn it into earrings or sidestones for a 3 stone ring.)

It was Thing2of2's, but I thought the listing had just expired, but now see that she had a second post up, and that one indicates it was sold. Sorry! Just ignore me!! I totally didn't notice the second posting the first time I searched for it.

Oh, that is right! That stone was a beauty...I was drooling over it, but cannot justify having two bezel pendants!

.41 carat is a good sized pendant, especially if you bezel it (maybe add milgrain?)

But the one Xiriah posted, is a good fit if it's still not sold.

I think it's a very nice size!
