DC~for your size stone and finger, I would not use a halo setting. I think your diamond will look stunning as a stand alone in a diamond band.

Angeline!!!! You finally set your diamond and you have kept it from us!!!! Now hurry and do a SMTR thread!!! It is gorgeous!

Not to me, it is really dependent on your ring size though. But I think it would be gorgeous.

Stand by!

For me personally, I would not want a halo around a 2 ct stone...that size stone is sizeable enough all on its own! I wear a 5-5.5 and I just think that the size would take up a whole lot of finger!

I agree with diamondfan -- I think it would be gorgeous!

It''s really up to you and what you are comfortable with... the halo will certainly help when DSS sets in

I think it''s a matter of personal preference. Both are very pretty. I like the way halos look on others, but for me personally I prefer the non-halo to me it is more timeless/less "trendy". That said I have been seeing more halos too and since most people don''t change their settings I am sure they will become more timeless. In the end you should get what you like and what you will want to wear daily... would a 2ct halo get in your way?

I wear a size 4 and have a 1.5 princess (so faces up smaller than a 1.5 round) and I think it is a perfect size for me, even if money was no problem I would only ever go a touch bigger (but I love it the way it is now, so I would have to think really hard about changing it). I would not want to wear a 2 ct round halo, I think it would look funny on me that being said it''s probably a mental thing, because I don''t know if I would necessarily think it looked funny on someone else. But to me there is such thing as too big/gaudy. I actually love the link you posted with the halo, but that size was perfect for her hand which makes a difference too. It didn''t look gaudy at all.

In the end you are the one wearing it and will have to love it. So you should take your time and pick something that is timeless to you and that is your taste.

Hey Ladies...thanks for all of the feedback and pics. It is greatly appreciated!

To clarify, I have tried on both settings. However, the halo rb setting was with a one carat stone. We have been to about 15 jewelry stores in the past few weeks to try on settings. The Richard Landi setting w/ the 2ct cushion was very ''me'' and I was certain it was ''the one'' until we came across the setting like Halolover''s. After sleeping on it and discussing it more with my boyfriend, I am 95% positive we are going with the Richard Landi w/ the cushion. It was surprisingly comfortable on my hand despite the three-sided pavé. We are also considering having it set w/a rb but the rectangular cushion looked really nice on my long fingers.

I think the Landi with a cushion would be gorgeous and it sounds like that''s what you loved to begin with. it''s so easy to come on this site and see other settings and have ring envy but i think going with what you first loved and feels so *you* is a great idea.

My first thought? If I had a 2ct diamond it wouldn''t need a halo.

on my hand lol.>

I find the sales person''s comment absolutely silly, annoying and simple minded.

If we use her thinking, then princesses look like boxes, asschers look like stop signs, emeralds look like shoe boxes, etc . . . Guess what, everything does, sort of, look like something else in life.

Oh, on your two carat halo - I''d say indvidual preference, really, and how it fits your hand. Go with your gut feeling on it.

i don''t think a 2ct RB is too big for a halo, if that''s what you want, but me being a solitaire girl and all, i would say set your diamond in that gorgeous Landi setting you posted!! it''ll be so sleek and fab in that setting!

My first thought was that a 2ct doesn't need a halo. But after seeing angeline's gorgeous ring, I think it could work. I guess it depends on the setting and your finger size. What a nice dilemma to have.
