Is 1.18 length/width ratio for a cushion too long?

I read ideal is about 1.10 or so.

Or is this purely personal preference?

For me it''s too square. I prefer more rectangular cushions, and yes, it is a personal preference unless the ratio is extreme

you think 1.18 is too square? i have read here on PS that cushions are classically in the 1.1-1.15 range.

what do you consider extreme?

I don't think 1.18 is too long. Here's a link to Wobbly Hedgehog's lovely 1.18 l/w cushion: link for reference.

I think Pauly1 and Cehrabehra both have cushions with l/w ratios above 1.20 if I'm not mistaken, however, theirs are more oval in outline than they are rectangular, so that's something to consider as well.

It really does come down to personal preference. Also, some settings may be better suited towards stones at one end of the spectrum than ones at the opposite end...

I would try on as many as you can to find out where your sweet spot lies. My sweet spot is 1.14, which is gently rectangular.

Depends on what you like, squarish or more elongated.
For me, I love the elongated, ovalish shape.
