A friend got me an interesting wedding present- an iPod!

I had an OLD player that I was forever saying I was gonna ditch to upgrade to the newest iPod. Well, I now have it!

I''m really psyched to personalize it with tons of playlists. I''ve got a couple in mind- like my dirty little secret, artists I''m embarrased to admit I like (Celine Dion, Britney, Justin Timberlake, etc...), and of course the requisite workout playlists.

Just looking for some inspiration for more playlists. What''s your favorite one?

I have just been adding songs as I hear them, or recalling old favorites. I get out my old cd''s (rock, pop, etc) and see what appeals to me. I recently got obsessed with an old soundtrack from a teen movie that I had really liked years ago, and could not find the soundtrack for the life of me. Ended up ordering a couple of the artist''s cd''s which had the soundtrack sounds on them, and I will download them I get them...brings back great memories, some of the old stuff that I used to love, and it is a lot of fun putting it all together!

i love my ipod!

My playlists right now:

Workout Mix
Train ride (stuff that I can read to)
"Love" mix (songs with the word love in the title... was feeling sappy one day)
wedding ideas (songs to play at our wedding)

I also take advantage of the songs being sorted by year, by artist, by purchased, by recently added, by recently played and top rated. Those are some "bonus" playlists that I didn''t have to set up.

and then sometimes I just hit Songs and set it to shuffle.

I love my iPod, I use it about 4-5 hours every day. I arrange playlists by mood: stuff to wake me up, stuff thats great for driving, strength on sad days songs, and a couple playlists of music for various holidays.

But what I really love are podcasts.

I''m currently listening to my "Bitchin'' Babes" playlist...female vocalists...from Aretha to kd lang to (ok I''ll admit it) Celine to P!nk...it powers me through when I''m feeling weak!

Great playlists! Please keep the ideas coming!

I should''ve mentioned in my original post that I curently do use iTunes and am familiar with it- I have about 3000 songs loaded on it. I just haven''t had a need to build playlists on it.

I don't have an iPod, but I have an MP3 player I love.

I have such a diverse taste in music. I sort mine by mood, too. I also sort by decade. I have one with a mix of 70's music like America, Bread, John Denver, Crosby Stills and Nash, Seals and Crofts, and jazzy music like Average White Band to disco (yes, I do love disco, in small doses), 80's music like new wave, Duran Duran, The Cars, The Eagles and classic rock, and moody music for when I'm brooding -- ELO, The Church, and an independent band called The Wondermints.

Aren't MP3's fun!!!

I'm like Lumpkin, I organize my playlists by 70's music, 80's dance, 80's new wave (I was at my disco dancin' prime in the 80's--- LOVE THE MUSIC) I have playlists titled "Yo Mellow"-- all slower tunes, "Treadmill" 1,2 and 3 where I have songs arranged by tempo for warm up, fast pace and slow down. I also have one called "Boy Bands"-- I know, I know-- guilty!!!! I get lots of download ideas from TV commercials. There are a couple of tunes by an artist called Goldfrapp that are featured in the LG chocolate cell phone commercial and another commercial that I downloaded. I got the idea for a Peter Gabriel song to download after hearing it on a Cingular commercial. I also pay attention in TV shows for good tunes to download.

My DH just bought me a Ipod Nano for my birthday but I really don't like it (in fact I specifically told him that I DID NOT want an Ipod) He had it engraved (very sweet) but since he did, I couldn't return it. Ugh! I love my Iriver player. I have a subscription to Napster's site and with a Napster to Go compatable player (like my Iriver) I can download as many songs as I want per month for $14.95. I can't burn them to CD but I can put them on my player.

Pearcrazy, you don't like your iPod? I'm lusting after a pink one, LOL! I want a pink Nintendo DS, too. Only for the shear vanity of it. I like my RCA MP3 player very well, and I don't play that many games, LOL!

Maybe I like my current MP3 player because I don't know that much about the other ones. I could be missing out on something...I'm not sure and I haven't spent much time trying to find out.

Sorry for the hijack....

Lumpkin, I don''t like my Ipod because I can''t figure out how to transfer my Napster purchased songs to my Ipod. There are more than 400 songs I''ve purchased in the last two years. So far the only way I''ve figured out how to do it is to burn them to CD and then upload them to Itunes and download into my Ipod player. A huge hassle. I bought my DH a Nano player for his birthday and he loves it, right down to the engraving on the back. But-- I knew he wanted a Nano because he said so. I said I DIDN''T want a Nano. Why oh WHY did he engrave it, he knew it would be non-returnable. He''s lucky he put such a sweet message on the back, otherwise I''d have been really pissed that he didn''t listen to me!

He still hogs my Iriver all the time because of all the cool stuff I''ve downloaded from Napster to Go. Sheesh!

You know, I think I read that Yahoo! music can''t be downloaded onto an iPod, too. What a bummer. I guess it''s really propriatary.

I imagine if that''s what you start out with it''s fine, though.

You guys need to try ANAPOD!
Its inexpensive software that let''s you treat your ipod like a hard drive, add and remove things easily. And yes, you can also make playlists. It''s great, and you don''t have to worry about all the itunes propriety junk.

Scintillating

Wow, imagine all the things you can learn on a jewelry site, LOL! I''ll be sure to keep that information about the iPod software. Valuable info, thanks!

I''m getting very inspired to update my music. My 9 year old loves my 80''s music and his favorite is The Cars. He did tell me the other day that he''s ready for some new music, though, and he''s getting a little bored with his current music. He also loves Credence and Technotronic!

I''m getting some newer music, too. I downloaded some 3 Doors Down and Fatboy Slim. I''m going through some David Mathews and Goo Goo Dolls. A long time ago I had some Seals and Crofts on a vinyl album, but sometime ago it went missing, and I downloaded a few tracks recently. I think he''s gonna love those! My 5 year old says he likes the Kryptonite track (he''s standing here now looking at all the smile icons).
